© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, May 25, 1960 Otto Wray Fort Cobb Rites Held For Pioneer County Banker Fort Cobb -- Services for Otto Wray, retired banker, merchant and cattleman, and a leading Fort Cobb civic leader, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Fort Cobb Methodist church, Rev. Claire Payette, pastor, officiated. Burial was in the Oak Grove cemetery. Wray, who had been ill for the past several weeks, died Saturday in an Oklahoma City hospital. A pioneer of Caddo county, moving here April 1, 1906, Wray was the former owner of the Washita Valley bank and an automobile agency in Fort Cobb. He was one of the first members of the board of supervisors of the South Caddo county Soil Conservation district and the first president of the Washita Valley Improvement association. Wray was a charter member of the Fort Cobb Rotary club, was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Eastern Star and Odd Fellows lodges. He held 50-year pins from the Masonic and Eastern Star lodges. He was born May 15, 1877, in Galatia, Ill., and was married to Lalla Bennett on July 31, 1899. His wife preceded him in death in 1958. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. W.D. Finney, one grandson, Wray Finney, one great-grandson, Richard Finney and one sister, Mrs. J.B. Miles all of Fort Cobb. |
© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, September 24, 1958 Lalla [Bennett] Wray Mrs. Otto Wray Funeral Service Is Held Sunday FORT COBB-Funeral services for a well known Fort Cobb woman, Mrs. Otto Wray, were held at 2:30 Sunday afternoon in the high school auditorium. Rev. Louis Marsh, Elk City, officiated at the services with Rev. Claire Payette assisting. Interment was in the Oak Grove cemetery near Fort Cobb. Mrs. Wray died Thursday in a Raton, N.M. hospital where she was taken after falling and breaking her hip at the Wray's summer home near Creede, Colo. She suffered a heart attack while in the hospital. She was born September 3, 1881, at Benton Township, Iowa. She was married to Otto Wray in El Reno. They moved to Fort Cobb in 1906 where Mr. Wray is a retired banker and cattleman. She had been a member of the Fort Cobb chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a member of the Methodist church. Survivors are the husband of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Irma Finney, a grandson, Wray Finney, and a great-grandson, all of Fort Cobb; several nieces and nephews. |
