He was married to the former Ruth Howard October 13, 1910 at Beaver City. The couple resided in the old South Pioneer Community until settling in Fort Cobb in 1912. They returned to Fort Cobb 1969 after residing 30 years in Duncan. Brother of Annie Warford of California; Mrs. Martha McPherson, Mrs. Alice Ratliff and Mrs. Maggie Ratliff of Fort Cobb; and Jeff Wilson of Tulare, CA. |
© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, November 29, 1967 Stanley Eugene "Stan" Wilson Stanley Eugene Wilson was born February 10, 1941 in Anadarko, Oklahoma, the son of Alfred and Edith Wilson. He passed away at his home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on June 7, 2009 at the age of 68 years 3 months and 28 days. Stan was raised in the Fort Cobb/Broxton community. He attended school through third grade at Broxton. The family moved to rural Fort Cobb in the summer after his third grade year and he attended Fort Cobb Schools until graduation from Fort Cobb High School in 1959. Stan joined the Navy in the fall of that year and served at several Naval Air Stations across the United States and on the aircraft carrier USS Bon Homme Richard. Stan was discharged from the Navy in 1965 and returned to Oklahoma soon after. Stan attended college at Southwestern Oklahoma State University for a time. While at southwestern, he often enjoyed umpiring baseball games. He was a lifelong sports fan and loved following the Fort Cobb Broxton Mustangs in both basketball and baseball. After Stan left college, he worked in sales for Atwoods, sold oil leases, and later found his greatest talent in the car sales business. He worked as manager of Fleetwood Motors in Guthrie until his health forced his retirement in the late summer of 2008. Stan was married to Becki Howie in May of 1999. They enjoyed traveling together. Stan especially loved their trips to Branson several times each year. Stan and Becki remained "best friends" throughout the trials of the past year. Stan was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Edith Wilson. He is survived by his wife, Becki, of the home in Oklahoma City; one son, Lance Wilson and wife Brandy of Canute, Oklahoma; two daughters, Seantele Foreman and husband Scott of Pearland, Texas, and Misti Garrison and husband Denny of Stuttgart, Arkansas; one sister, Gail Simpson of Weatherford, Oklahoma; mother-in-law, Vivian Howie of Sherwood, Arkansas; sister-in-law, Dixie Morgan of Sherwood, Arkansas; two granddaughters, Kristyn and Taylor Wilson of Canute, Oklahoma; and three grandsons, Spencer and Shane Foreman of Pearland, Texas and Will Garrison of Stuttgart, Arkansas; two nieces, Nancy Murray and husband Bill of Weatherford, Oklahoma, and Renee Morgan of Sherwood, Arkansas; and many other aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at Surry Hills Baptist Church, Yukon, Oklahoma with burial following at Ft. Cobb Cemetery. |
