© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, January 28, 1959 Henry Thomas "Hal" Roddy Sr H.T. Roddy Rites Held Wednesday At Fort Cobb FORT COBB- Services for H.T. Roddy, Sr, pioneer Fort Cobb rancher and farmer were held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Fort Cobb Baptist church with Rev. Ted Ewing, pastor, officiating. Interment was in the Oak Grove cemetery under the direction of the Fort Cobb Funeral Home. Roddy, 87 years of age, had been a resident of the Fort Cobb community since 1903. He died Sunday about 7 p.m. in the home of a daughter, Mrs. Mont Churchill, where he had been making his home for several months. He had been in failing health for some time. He was born July 5, 1871, at Roddy, Tenn., and was married September 22, 1897, at Spring City, Tenn., to Miss Amanda Ewing. Mrs. Roddy preceded him in death in 1941. He was a member of the IOOF and Modern Woodmen lodges. Survivors include four sons, Earl of Carnegie, Jack, Hal Jr., and Robert, Fort Cobb; three daughters, Mrs. Churchill, Mrs. Hill Kirk and Mrs. Burnis Williams, all of Fort Cobb; a brother Joe, Fort Cobb; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Wilson, Albuquerque, N.M.; and seven grandchildren. |
© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, January 7, 1941 Amanda Alice [Ewing] Roddy Funeral Sunday For Mrs. H.T. Roddy Final rites were held at the Fort Cobb Baptist church Sunday afternoon for Mrs. H.T. Roddy, member of a well known Caddo county family, who passed away at her home north of Fort Cobb Friday, Jan. 3. Assisting in the funeral services were R.E. Harvey and Rev. E.C. Gregory of Fort Cobb and Rev. T.T. Brown of Carnegie. Pall bearers were John Moore, M.C. Applewhite, Lock Stuart, Homer Grimmett, J.D. Williams and D.L. Burket. Honorary bearers were Wm. Aldridge, S.O. Glover, A.W. Hamm, J.E. Finney, Joe Scannell and J.W. Fisher. Burial was in the Oak Grove cemetery at Fort Cobb. Amanda Alice Ewing was born June 20, 1872 at Rhea Springs, Tenn. She became a member of the Baptist church when a young girl and was a member of the Fort Cobb church at the time of her death. She was married to Hal T. Roddy in Tennessee in 1897. They with their three eldest children came to the Fort Cobb community in 1903 where they have since made their home. Survivors include the husband, H.T. Roddy and four sons, Earl T. Roddy, Carnegie, and Thornton, Robert and Hal T. jr., all of Fort Cobb, and three daughters, Mrs. Emma Churchill, Mrs. Pearl Kirk and Mrs. Roberta Williams of Fort Cobb; and three grandchildren, Hal Thomas Churchill and Donal Hal and Gay Wayne Roddy. |
© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, April 26,1961 Nettie L. [Stookey] Roddy Mrs. Joe Roddy was born December 4, 1888, in Ohio. She came to Oklahoma with her husband, Joe Roddy, whom she married in 1909 at Markle, Ind. She died in the Anadarko hospital. She had been a resident of the Fort Cobb community since coming to a farm home a short distance northeast of Fort Cobb as a bride in 1909. She had one daughter, Wanda. [Mrs. Frank Bryson], two brothers, Albert Stookey, Indiana, and Carl Stookey of Ohio. |
© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, July 13, 1966 Lydia B. Roddy Pioneer Resident Of Fort Cobb Dies In Oklahoma City Funeral services for Mrs. Lydia B. Roddy, 86, Miami, Okla., pioneer resident of Fort Cobb and aunt of Earl Roddy, Carnegie, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist church in Fort Cobb. Rev. Jim White, pastor, officiated. Burial was in the Fort Cobb cemetery. Mrs. Roddy died unexpectedly Sunday from an apparent heart attack at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Leo Jones, in Oklahoma City. She had been in an Oklahoma City hospital earlier, then had gone to the home of her daughter for a visit. A native of Tennessee, Mrs. Roddy and her husband, the late Thomas Albert Roddy, came to Fort Cobb in 1903. Following the death of her husband in 1954, Mrs. Roddy went to Miami to make her home with another daughter, Miss Mary E. Roddy. She is survived by one son, Major Thomas J. Roddy, Ret. of Denver, Colo.; and the two daughters. |
