© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, September 20, 1961 William Wheeler Roach William Wheeler Roach was the depot agent at Fort Cobb for many years and had been a resident of Fort Cobb since 1933. He was born October 4, 1892, near Decatur, Texas, and was married October 22, 1932, to Mrs. Nona Layton at Bowie, Tex. The next year the couple moved to Fort Cobb ti make their home. He had one son, John of Tulsa; and one daughter, Mrs. Jake Roop of Tulsa. Brother of Tom, Fort Worth and Worth of Compton, Calif; Mrs. E.H. Roberts, Dallas; Mrs. Ollie Clary, Hitchcock, Tex.; and Bill Layton of Houston. |
© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, January 15, 1958 Jennie Roach Fort Cobb Rites Held Monday For Mrs. Jennie Roach FORT COBB - Last rites for Mrs. Jennie Roach, 80, were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Church of Christ here. E.L. Stumbo, local pastor, withmRev. W.F. Crow, pastor of the Carnegie Baptist church, assisting. Burial was in the Oak Grove cemetery. Mrs. Roach, who had been in ill health for the past six months, died late Friday in Chickasha. She was born July 26, 1877, in Birmingham, Ala. She came to Caddo county in 1917 and was married to Will Roach in 1954. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include the husband of the home in Fort Cobb; two sons, Luther Rhoades, Carnegie, and Claude Bandy, Sunnyvale, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Minnie Hartlett, Los Angeles and Mrs. Opal Menton, San Diego; three sisters; four brothers, grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. |
