© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, June 19, 1940 Thomas J. Pritchett Pritchett Services At Ft. Cobb Friday T.J. Pritchett, veteran Indian farmer, died at a Chickasha hospital June 12 and funeral services were held at the Methodist church in his home town of Fort Cobb at 2:30 Friday afternoon. He had been seriously stricken a week before. Entering the Indian service in 1904, he took the position as field agent and located at Fort Cobb where he spent his 32 years of service, retiring in 1936. Pall bearers were some of his friends who had been closely associated with him in the Indian service and included C.W. Gillett, Mr. Gibson, J.F. Haws, Tom Keys, Walter Volz, Henry Redbone, Mr. Moore and Homer Saddleblanket. Thomas J. Pritchett was born at Forstell, Mo. October 5, 1871. He joined the Methodist church when a young man and continued in active work all his life. He attended Central Western College at Warrenton, Mo. In 1898 he came to Oklahoma and was associated with the Methvin Institute at Anadarko. Here he met and married Miss Lou Hall, a teacher and to them three children were born. Mrs. Pritchett died in 1910. In May 1912 he married Florence Dickenson and to this union two children were born, one dying in infancy. Survivors include his widow, and four children of the immediate family, two grandchildren, a sister and three brothers. Funeral services were conducted by R.V. Grant and D.D. Hamilton and burial was made in the Oak Grove cemetery at Fort Cobb under the direction of the Harvey Funeral Home. |
