Ada Adell [Page] Payne

Ada Payne,89, died December 27, 1950 at Swan Lake.

She was born Freeborn, Minnesota on March 14, 1861.

She married Robert "R. T." Treat Payne at Western, Nebraska on February 20, 1879. They came to Caddo County in 1901 and homesteaded a place near Swan Lake and she has lived there since.

Mr Payne died 31 years ago.

Survivors are Clint Payne, fort Cobb and Charles Payne, Tulare, Calif. and three daughters, Mrs Fay of Shidler, Mrs Hazel Cook of Oklahoma City and Mrs Clara Ince of home address.

Her marriage license states she was married on February 14th by J. T. Boomford. The license was taken out on February 18, 1879 and issued by J. H. Hardy, probate judge of Saline County, Nebraska, The marriage license was signed on February 20 by J. T. Boomford.

Deward Eugene "Gene" Payne

Graveside services for Deward Eugene "Gene" Payne, 67, of rural Fort Cobb were held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 11, in Fort Cobb Cemetery. Rod Carroll and Robert Rusher officiated.

A church group sang "Amazing Grace" and "My God and I."

Pall bearers were June Brewster, Walt Owens, Randall Stockton and Jarrett Walker.

Burial was in the Fort Cobb Cemetery under direction of Fort Cobb Funeral Home.

Mr. Payne was born Dec. 16, 1925 at Cement, the son of James Denton and Corda (Cocheran) Payne and died June 8 at his home near Fort Cobb.

He was married to Vera Hope Duncan Aug. 24, 1945 at Searcy, Ark. The Paynes moved to the Cement area in 1957. He worked in the oilfields, drove a truck and served as a part-time police officer in Cement. They moved to Ford Cobb in 1971 and Gene served as a police chief until he retired in 1975.

His first wife died Oct. 29, 1979 and on Aug. 4 1986, he married Ellen Holland at Wichita Falls, Tex.

He was a member of the Ford Cobb Church of Christ and the Fraternal Order of Police. He served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was a member of the military police.

Survivors include: his wife, Ellen of the home; two sons, James Payne of Carnegie and Earnest Payne of Honolulu, Hawaii; two daughters, Dorothy Jean Lankister of Cement and Sharon Ann Page of Chickasha; two brothers, Clifford Payne of Wichita, Kan. and Bill Swim of Little Rock, Ark.; one sister, Jimmie Wolford of Mustang; eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren; two step-daughters, Wanda Gee and Wynona Brewster, both of Fort Cobb; one stepson, Ben Holland, of Ford Cob; 10 step grandchildren and 17 step great-grandchildren.

Vera Hope [Duncan] Payne

Funeral Services For Hope Payne Set For Thursday

Funeral services for Vera Hope Payne, retired postal employee of Fort Cobb, will be held at 2 p.m.Thursday, Nov 1, at the Church of Christ, Fort Cobb. Mr. Rod Carroll, local minister, will officiate.

Mrs. Payne passed away at Grady Memorial Hospital, Chickasha early Monday, Oct. 29, at the age of 55 years, 10 months and 20 days. She had been in ill health for some time.

She was born December 5, 1923 at Garner, Ark. She was married August 24, 1945 at Searcy, Ark., to Deward E. (Gene) Payne. They came to Cement in 1957 from Arkansas, and moved to Fort Cobb in 1971. She was a member of the Church of Christ, Fort Cobb.

She is survived by her husband, Eugene, of the home; two sons, James of Montgomery, Ala., and Ernest of Las Vegas, Nev.; two daughters, Dorothy Jean Lankister, Cement and Sharon Ann Page, Chickasha; eight grandchildren; and one sister, Wanda Lee Hill, Norwalk, Calif.

Music for the service will be furnished by the church choir. Songs are " Nearer My God To Thee", "No Tears In Heaven" and "A Beautiful Life."

Pallbearers will be June Brewster, Paul Jackson, Lawrence McCullough, Randall Stockton, Duane Owen, Walter Owen, Vance Parr and Walter Dyer.

Burial will be in the Fort Cobb Cemetery, under direction of the Fort Cobb Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Church of Christ building fund, or to the Cancer Society.

FORT COBB ~ Funeral for Ciera R. Payne, 9, Fort Cobb, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Square Top Baptist Church, four miles west and one mile north of Anadarko, with J.T. Goombi and Justin Doughty officiating.

Ciera died Friday Aug. 26, 2005, at her home.

Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Fort Cobb, under direction of Comanche Nation Funeral Home.

She was born April 24, 1996, to Dean and Traci Rhoades Payne. She was known as "Toodles" to her family and played softball.

Survivors include her parents; two half~brothers: Randett Payne and Leslie Payne; two half~sisters: Christi Payne and Amy Perez; and grandparents: Roberta and Dick Owens and John Rhoades.

Friends may call from 6~9 p.m. today at the church.
