Fort Cobb Flyer Killed in Plane Crash Thursday

Fort Cobb, Oct. 3 -- Services were here Monday afternoon in the Fort Cobb Funeral chapel for Ray Vernon Owen, 30, who was killed in an airplane accident Sept. 29.

Owen, pilot for American Dusting Co., Chickasha, the past eight years, died when his plane hit a guy wire of a water well derrick late Thursday, near Hereford, Texas.

Survivors include a son, Michael Ray, and a daughter, Sharon Ann, Chickasha; his father, Floyd Owen, Fort Cobb; a brother, Walter Owen, Fort Cobb; and two sisters, Mrs. Mrs. Velma Jackson, Ardmore, and Mrs. Lois McMillin, Mare Island, Calif. Burial was in the Fort Cobb cemetery.
