William Franklin Lyons
January 20, 1857 ~ April 21, 1921

William Franklin Lyons was born in Kentucky on 20 Jan 1857.

He married Anna Karoline Hillers on 25 Nov 1890.

They lived in Farina, Fayette, Illinois for a short time. Their first child, John Thomas "Tommy" was born there.

In 1893 William and Carrie move their family to Colorado accompanying Carrie's stepsister with her husband and family. Margaret Nee Hillers Hendricks, the stepsister, stayed in Colorado with her husband and children, but the Lyons did not remain long. By 1895 they had returned to Sangamon County, Illinois were Carrie was born and raised.

William Lyons, of Curran, was returning from Petersburg with a load of flour, and when near Salisbury, by some means he was thrown from the wagon, falling under the wheels. He was taken to John Raymond's house. Dr. Bain was called and pronounced an oblique fracture of the left femur joint.

Anna Karoline "Carrie" [Hillers] Lyons
May 15, 1872 ~ January 31, 1926

Carrie was christened Anna Karoline Hillers on 9 October 1874 in Springfield, Sangamon County, Illinois at the Trinity Lutheran Church. Her sponsors were Anna Marie Henrichs, a stepsister, and Christine Louise Henrichs, wife of her stepsister, Margaret's son John Hendry Hendricks.

*The surname Henrichs was later changed to to Hendricks.

She was the daughter of Johan Hinrich Hillers and Johanne Marie Caroline nee Kleinhans. She was listed as Caroline in the census records, but she was called Carrie by her family. She was born in Sangamon County, Illinois.


Carrie Ann Lyons, 52 years old, died Sunday at her home in Britton. Britton is no longer in existence as a town. Britton is now part of south Edmond, and north Oklahoma City.

She is survived by one son, William Franklin "Bill" Lyons of Bethany, and three daughters: Mrs. Anna Marie Reynolds of Okmulgee, and Mrs. Lena M. Bednar and Miss Thelma Irene Lyons, both of Britton.

Funeral services will be held at Britton at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon.

John Thomas "Tommy" Lyons
March 28, 1891 ~ October 3, 1918

John Thomas Lyons was the son of William Franklin Lyons & Anna Karoline "Carrie" nee Hillers Lyons. He was called Tommy by his family. He was born the 28th of March 1891 in Farina, Fayette County, Illinois.

His parents moved to Colorado with the family of his mother's stepsister, Margaret nee Hillers Hendricks, in 1893. They stayed a short while and moved back to the Sangamon County, Illinois area where his mother was born and raised.

By 1900 the family moved to Oklahoma where Tommy grew to manhood.

He enlisted in the army on July 15, 1918; He died at 6:21 A. M. at Camp Grant, in the Camp Grant Base Hospital near Rockford, Winnebago County, Illinois on the 3rd of October 1918. He died of lobar pneumonia in the right lower lung. He had been ill 8 days. He was seen last by the doctor on the 2nd of July 1918. Lieutenant A. Weichelt, Medical Corps, USA signed the death certificate.
