January 15, 2011 Margaret "Juanita" [McPherson] Keyes Margaret "Juanita" McPherson Keyes was called to heaven on January 15, 2011 in Mesa, Arizona surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was born February 6, 1920 to Earl "Shorty" and Inez McPherson in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma. She was married to Ralph Keyes on May 5, 1940 in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma. They had seven children, five girls: Margaret, Linda, Betty, Arnita and Inez, and two sons: Earl "Thomas" Keyes and Harold "Ray" Keyes. and a son, Joe Carl Swanda from a previous marriage. Juanita worked for Howard Cleaners in Lawton, Oklahoma for many years. She was a very gifted seamstress and suit/dressmaker. She was an active member of the Memorial Indian Baptist Church in Lawton, OK. She also served as the Church Treasure for several years. She loved crocheting, embroidery, crossword puzzle/word search books. She is survived by five daughters: Margaret Cortez and husband, Don of Chino Valley, AZ, Linda Schmerber of Las Vegas, NV, Betty Cortinas and husband, Ray of Van Nuys,CA, Arnita Pewewardy and husband, Farley of Mesa, AZ, Inez Walker of Lawton, OK, three sons: Earl :Thomas" Keyes of Lawton, OK and Harold "Ray" Keyes of Las Vegas, NV, Joe Carl Swanda of Edmond, OK, seventeen grandchildren: Debra Kimball, Virginia Cisneroz, Carolina Cisneroz, Michelle, Luisa McDonald, Christina White, Elena Cortinas, Sedrick Guy Jr., Tabetha Wright, Travis Guy, Jeri Ann, David Pierce, Joseph Keyes, Daniel Keyes, Rick Swanda, Susan and Chris Swanda, twenty eight great grandchildren one brother; Steve McPherson of Prague, OK and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Keyes in April of 1997, at the time of his death they were married fifty five years. She was also preceded by a son, Thomas "Tom: Keyes, a granddaughter, Tammy Lynn Cortez,one grandson, Ralph Daniel Keyes, her parents, Earl and Inez McPherson, one sister, Alta Howry and one brother, Raymond McPherson. Juanita requested a graveside Memorial service: 11:00 A. M., Friday, February 8, 2011 Fort Cobb Cemetery, Fort Cobb, OK. Officiating: Rev. Willie Doyeto of Memorial Indian Baptist and Rev. Amon Harjo. Family requests if anyone would like to write a memory of Juanita, it would be greatly appreciated as a wonderful keepsake. A meal will be provided at the Fort Cobb Community Center following the service. |
