John W. Kenney

John W. Kennedy was born January 31, 1856 in Cedar county, Missouri, and departed this life at the family home Wednesday, Oct. 3, 1934 at the age of 78 years, 8 months and 2 days.

He was converted and united with the Methodist church when a young man.

He was married to Emma J. Huston at Hartsmills, Kans. August 23, 1885, and to this union seven children were born, four of whom died in infancy.

Those surviving are Mrs. Otie Griffitts of Eakly, Mrs. Ruby Landrum of Depew, and Chester M. Kenney of Fort Cobb, all of whom were present at the time of his death. Besides his three children, he is survived by seven grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

His wife preceded him in death March 2, 1933.

Mr. Kenny moved from Rockville, Mo., to Oklahoma 33 years ago and has resided in the Crescent community for 14 years.

He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a friend to anyone in need or trouble.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Fort Cobb Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock conducted by Rev. Harvey and assisted by Rev. Cox, the pastor.

Mrs. John Kenney Dies At Her Home Near Fort Cobb

Mrs. John Kenney who lives in the Crescent community near Ft. Cobb died Thursday night.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Ft. Cobb Saturday afternoon conducted by the Harvey funeral home. Burial was made in the Ft. Cobb cemetery.

Emma J. Huston was born Nov. 6, 1863 in Peoria, Ill., died March 2, 1933, aged 69 years, 3 months and 26 days.

She was united in marriage to John W. Kenney at Hartsmills, Kans. Aug. 23, 1885. To this union seven children were born, three of whom survive: Mrs. Ottie Griffitts, Eakly; Mrs. Ruby Landrum, Depew; and Chester M. Kenney, Ft. Cobb.

After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Kenney moved to Montrose, Mo. where they lived for five years, thence to Rockville, Mo., and from there they moved to Oklahoma 32 years ago. They have lived in the Crescent neighborhood for the past 13 years.

Mrs. Kenney is also survived by her husband, four brothers, one sister and seven grandchildren.
