Sunday, November 18, 2012 Alton Alvin Hodge Alton Avis Holdge, 83, of Fort Cobb, OK passed away after an extended illness on Sunday, November 18th, 2012 in Chickasha, OK. He was born on June 9, 1929 in Washita, OK to Ted and Ida [Branum] Holdge. He grew up in the Washita area and attended school there. He served his country in the U.S. Army from December 1943 to January of 1961 and attained the rank of Corporal. . He served during the Korean Conflict. He later became a member of the Fort Cobb VFW Club. He married Maxine Hightower Tripp on November 27, 1978 in Big Springs, TX. Alton was civic minded and very active in community affairs. He worked for the City of Fort Cobb as the Water Superintendent for 29 years before retiring in 1984. He also served on the Fort Cobb Fire Department, serving as Fire Chief for several years. He served on the Oak Grove Cemetery Board. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and served as Worshipful Master for many years. After his retirement he enjoyed working as a camp host for Quartz State Park and Fort Cobb State Park. Alton was a member of the United Methodist Church of Fort Cobb and served as treasurer for 11 years. He is survived by his wife, Maxine, of the home in Fort Cobb, OK, His children and their spouses: Colleen and Chris of Pauls Valley, OK, Eilen and Harold of Pauls Valley, OK, Ricky Alton and Kathy of Flower Mound, TX, Rick and Suzanne of Choctaw, OK, Gayla and Kenneth of Burleson, TX, Dickie and Johnette of Anadarko, OK, Patty and Leonard of Fort Cobb, OK, 13 Grandchildren, 14 Great-Grandchildren, 1 Sister: Katherine and husband, Bill Orrell, of Fort Cobb, OK, 4 Sisters-in-law: Glenda Holdge, Gracemont, OK, Verna Dean, Chickasha, Ok, Francine and Carl Peterson, Mtn. Pleasant, AK, Ailene and Jack Garner, Wormaster, PA, 4 Brothers-in-law: Jack and Margie Hightower, Murray, KY, Jim and Pat Hightower, Norman, OK, Bill an Joan Hightower, Guthrie, OK, Jerry and Angie Hightower, Strawberry Plains, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister. Hazel Holdge, 3 brothers; Otis Holdge, Theodore Holdge and "Little" Teddy Holdge and his sister-in-law, Nadine Holloway.
