© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, February 26, 1958 Gladys Mae [Waller] Hardesty July 28, 1913 ~ February 17, 1958 Illness Fatal For Former Resident Of Fort Cobb FORT COBB-Funeral services for Mrs. Earnest Hardesty, a former Fort Cobb resident, were held at 10 a.m. Friday morning in Oklahoma City, and at 4 p.m. in the First Baptist church at Fort Cobb. Burial was in the Oak Grove cemetery. Mrs. Hardesty, 44 years old, died Monday night, February 17, in an Oklahoma City hospital after a long illness. She came to Fort Cobb in 1929 and made her home here until moving to Oklahoma City five years ago. She was born July 28, 1913 at Gotebo. Survivors include her husband, Ernest and two sons, Delmer and Charles, all of Oklahoma City; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. U.V. Waller; one sister and two brothers |
Oklahoma November 2019 October 15, 1933 ~ November 09, 2019 Charles “Chuck” Edward Hardesty age 86, of Bridge Creek, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, November 9, 2019. Chuck was born October 15, 1933 in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma. He was the older of two sons born to Ernest Francis Hardesty and Gladys Mae [Waller] Hardesty. Chuck grew up in Fort Cobb and graduated with the class of 1952. While in high school he played baseball and later became a lifelong player of the game of softball. On October 31, 1952, he married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Joan Bellamy. Together Chuck and Pat raised four daughters, Leca, Linda, Ladonna and Lori. For 33 years he lived and worked in Oklahoma City working for Western Electric as an Equipment Tester. After the company sold to AT&T, he continued working there until he retired in 1995. As a teenager Chuck accepted Christ as his Savior. He later served as a deacon at Meridian Ave. Baptist Church. In 1985, he moved to the Bridge Creek/Newcastle area and became an active member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church. While living and working in OKC, Chuck played on the Western Electric softball team. Because of his love for the game, he became certified as an ASA Softball Umpire and umpired for over 25 years. After moving to the Newcastle area, he started his own softball team called “The Family”. It was a team made up of various co-ed family members who played league softball together for nearly 30 years. Chuck often talked about his favorite baseball team, the Brooklyn Dodgers, and the great Roy Campanella. Chuck was an expert of baseball trivia and stats. He loved watching all sports, but his favorite local team was the OSU Cowboys. He will be remembered as a wonderful Husband, a loving Daddy and PaPa as well as a special brother and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by: Parents, Ernest and Gladys Hardesty. Son-in-law, David Adair. He is survived by: Wife, Pat Hardesty of the home, Four daughters, Leca Henderson and husband Don of OKC, Linda Adair of Bridge Creek, Ladonna Joachim and husband Bill of OKC, Lori Kelley and husband Thomas of Bridge Creek. 12 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, One brother, Delmer Hardesty and wife LaDonna of Norman. Several nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 14, 2019, at Woodland Hills Baptist Church, 313 Hwy 76, Newcastle, OK. A graveside committal service will be at 3:00 p.m. at Fort Cobb Cemetery in Fort Cobb, OK. A visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Wilson-Little Funeral Home, 3132 Tri City Ave, Newcastle, OK. Memorials may be made to the Woodland Hills Baptist Church Building Fund.
