Doris Lorene [Meek] Edge
Funeral services for Doris Lorene Edge, 78, of Fort Cobb were held Wednesday,February 5, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Fort Cobb with Rev. Charlie Blount officiating.
Doris was born November 4, 1924 at the family home near Ft. Cobb to Claude Ney and Myrtle Una [Daniel] Meek and died Sunday, February 2, 2003 in Carnegie.
She married Roland Hildreth Edge on July 24, 1945. Together they spent 57 1/2 years as partners on the family farm near Ft. Cobb and were blessed with two children.
She was a wonderful mother, homemaker, a great cook, dressmaker and a joyous, loving grandmother. Many people have been blessed by her warm laughter, kindness and loving spirit.
She was active in the ministry to infants and children, both in her home and with state programs at Oklahoma Baptist Camp Hudgens and The Boys Ranch. She also participated in mission trips to share the love of Christ in Spain and Honduras.
She is survived by her husband, Roland Edge of the home; one daughter, Sandra K. Edge-Boyd and son-in-law, Bruce W. Boyd of Mustang; one grandson, Daniel Marcus Edge Boyd of Mustang; one daughter-in-law, Janet E. Edge of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Clarence Meek of Mulvane, Kansas, Dale Meek of Belle Paine, Kansas; one sister, Ethel Walker of Mulvane, Kansas; two aunts, Idell Harris of Fort Cobb and Anna McKenzie of Yuba City, California; a host of nephews, nieces, family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her son, Jerry DeRuse Edge; her parents; one brother, Austin and one sister Dora Fay.
Burial was in the Fort Cobb Cemetery under the direction of the Fort Cobb-Hackney Funeral Home in Fort Cobb.

Lawrence Emory Edge
SAN FRANCISCO Lawrence Emory Edge, 65, of San Francisco, went to his heavenly home Sunday, Aug. 30, 2015.
Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015, at First Caddo Baptist Church, Fort Cobb, with the Rev. Amon Harjo officiating under direction of Comanche Nation Funeral Home.
He was born Jan. 19, 1950, in Lawton, to Edwin Paul Ahpeatone and Kathleen "Tiny" Cannon.
He grew up in Fort Cobb and Anadarko. He attended schools at Fort Cobb and Chilocco Indian Agriculture School.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1968 and was stationed in Germany. He was a sharpshooter [m-14] and received the National Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged on June 21, 1971.
He married Brenda Akoneto in 1986.
He enjoyed joking around with his family and friends, and doing artwork.
He loved watching the San Francisco 49ers and the Giants.
He is survived by his children: John Charles Akoneto, of Cache; Jenna Nico "Rocky" Akoneto, of Lawton; and daughters he raised as his own: Tennille D. Akoneto, of McCloud; and Kim C. Cruz, of Tulsa; sisters: Charlotte "Leslie" Brush, Lisa Brush, Laura "Lolly" Martinez-Young, Allison Henry and Sabrina Henry; brothers: Lennis Paul Edge, Gene Ray Henry, Eric Edge and Lance Crawford; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Angel Leigh Edge; paternal grandmother, Helen Edge; maternal grandparents: Charlie and Opal Yeaquo Cannon; uncles: Conrad Cannon, Kenneth "KC" Cannon and Robert "Dutch" Cannon; aunt, Tony May Cannon; and many nieces and nephews.
