Home Apache, Caddo CO, Oklahoma October 2017 Lola Mae [Hardzog] Wood August 20, 1925 ~ October 30, 2017 Lola Mae Wood Of Apache, OK Was born August 20, 1925, at home in rural Comanche County, to Walter Pierce and Opal Ione "Toots" [Beall] Hardzog. She passed away October 30, 2017 in Grove, OK at the age of 92. Lola grew up attending the Chandler School, a one-room school house south of Apache through eighth grade when she went to, and graduated from Apache High School. She went to Draughon's Business College in Oklahoma City. Lola married Eulas Clayton "Woody" Wood on March 26, 1946 in Wellington, KS. He preceded her in death May 21, 1991. They lived in Oklahoma City then moved to Apache in 1952 where they owned and operated Woody's Steakhouse in Apache and she worked as cook, waitress and bookkeeper. Lola was a member of the Chandler Quilting Club and the Apache Senior Nutrition Center. She enjoyed dancing and attended the Cooperton Dance for over 20 years. Lola was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school classes, Girls' Auxiliary and was a Falls Creek Sponsor. She is survived by: 3 daughters - Linda Payne, Apache, OK,Marsha and husband, Jerry Irwin, Willis, TX, Elaine Crane, Grove, OK, 1 son and his wife - Jay and Starlin Wood Oklahoma City, OK, 6 grandchildren - Lance Payne, Lisa Valenti, Walter Crane, Garrett Crane, Jaycee VanHorn, Audrey Gauthe, 8 great-grandchildren - Caleb Payne, Michaela Duke, Hunter Smith, Willa Mae Crane, Grady Crane, Gavin Crane, Greyson Crane, Ellie Gauthe, 2 great-great-grandchildren - Preslea Duke, Rosalie Smith. She was preceded in death by: Her husband, E.C. "Woody" Wood, 1 great granddaughte - Champagne Payne, 1 great-grandso - Masen Payne, Her parents - Walter and Opal Hardzog. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 2nd at 2:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Kerry Glasgow officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Crews Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers are: Jerry Irwin, Walter Crane, Garrett Crane, Caleb Payne, Hunter Smith, Cecil Graham. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Apache Nutrition Center. |
