Trippe, Stecker, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Crews Funeral Home Chapel in Apache with the Rev. John Cahill officiating. Mr. Trippe died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008, at his home. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Apache under the direction of Crews Funeral Home. He was born Jan. 10, 1917, in Clarita to Walter L. and Maime [Carter] Trippe. He moved to Apache as a child with his family. After high school, he attended Southeastern Oklahoma University. He married Josephine Stroud on Nov. 10, 1939, in Oklahoma City. They moved to Fort Worth, Texas, where he purchased and ran a dry cleaning business. He belonged to the Elks Lodge, the Dry Cleaners Association, the Palomino Association of Fort Worth and served as vice president of the Fort Worth 4-H Club. The couple moved to the Stecker community in 1970, where he farmed and ranched. He opened the Farmer's Roost Cafe in downtown Apache in the mid-1970s. He was also fondly known as the "Mayor of Stecker." Survivors include two daughters: Clara Trippe and Dinah Brown, both of Stecker; seven grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Vanessa Easterday, Oklahoma City. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one son, Casper Allen Trippe; granddaughter, Kathy Lyn Robinson Matthews; two sisters, "Baby" Ruby Trippe and Bonnie Meece Parmer; and one brother, Grady Woodrow Trippe. |
