Jesse Deason "JD" Sechrist

APACHE ~ Funeral for Jesse Deason "JD" Sechrist, 82, Apache will be at 10a.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church, Apache with the Rev. A.L. Swagerty and the Rev. Doyle Wilburn, pastor, officiating. Mr. Sechrist died Tuesday in Chickasha.

Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, under direction of Crews Funeral Home, Apache.

He was born Aug. 11, 1914 in Stephenville, Texas.

He moved to Apache in 1943 from Cement.

He was a farmer and cattle rancher until he retired in the 1970's.

He married Ruth DeVaughn.

Mr. Sechrist was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church, Apache.

Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons: Randell and Truman, both of Apache; two daughters; Joyce Scammahorn, Apache, and Darlene Nasalroad, Edmond; 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Ruth Laverne [DeVaughn] Sechrist

APACHE ~ Funeral for Ruth Laverne Sechrist, 82, Apache, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Apache First Baptist Church with the Revs. A.L. Swagerty and Travis Wollenberg officiating.

Mrs. Sechrist died Monday in Chickasha.

Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Crews Funeral Home, Apache.

She was born Aug. 23, 1918, in Drumright. She grew up around the Cement and Verden area.

She married Jesse D. Sechrist. He died Aug. 27, 1996.

They farmed north of Apache for many years. She owned and operated a beauty shop in Apache for several years.

She was a member of the Apache First Baptist church, where she was actively involved in Sunday school, vacation Bible school and the church's food ministry.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law: Randell and Melva Sechrist and Truman and Carol Sechrist, all of Apache; two daughters and sons-in-law: Joyce and Eddie Scammahorn, Apache; and Darlene and Darrell Nasalroad, Edmond; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; four sisters: Ruby Holmes and Gertrude Cooper, both of Cement; Melvina White, Chickasha; and Carol Settles, Carmen; three brothers: Kenneth White, Cement; George White, Hinton; and Bedford White, Cement.

She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.
