Home Apache, Caddo CO, Oklahoma October 2014 Charles Royce "Chuck" Ray May 6, 1931 ~ October 21, 2014 Charles “Chuck” Ray Of Apache, Oklahoma Was born May 6, 1931 in Ft. Cobb, OK to Claude and Pearl [Matthews] Ray. He passed away October 21, 2014 in Lawton, OK at the age of 83. Chuck’s parents passed away when he was a young boy. He was raised by his beloved grandparents. He entered the Army and served during the Korean War. After he left the service, he went to work as a paint contractor. He married Joyce Patterson on August 3, 1958 in Lawton, OK. He worked in construction for many years before going to work at Goodyear when it opened in Lawton. He worked in their maintenance department until he had an accident in 1982 that left him unable to continue working. He and his wife owned the Warrior Café in Apache for several years. Chuck enjoyed fishing, race cars and watching bull riding. He was a talented wood carver, and worked continuously on his projects. Most of his work was western-themed, but he was known to carve animals, and even sent one of his animals, an elephant, to President Ronald Reagan. He gave away or sold most of his carvings. Chuck was a member of the Oak Street Church of Christ. He loved his family and friends and was looking forward to the birth of his third great-grandchild. He is survived by: His wife, Joyce, of the home 1 daughter and her husband- Pam and Mike McKenzie, Medicine Park, OK 2 sons and their wives- Greg and Luz Ray, Lawton, OK Darin and Melody Ray, Lawton, OK 3 grandchildren- Amanda Camacho, Aaron Ray, Dustin Ray, 2 great-grandchildren- Eden Camacho, Camron Camacho 1 sister- Alyce Gillian, Lawton, OK. He was preceded in death by: His grandparents His parents 1 sister-Lillian Ray 1 son- Mark Ray 1 grandson - Zane Ray. Funeral Services will be held Friday, October 24th at 1:30 P.M. at the Oak Street Church of Christ with Roy Young, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Crews Funeral Home |
