© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, March 26, 1920 ~ November 2, 2007 Age 87, Cyril - Graveside service will be at 10:30am Monday in the Fairview Cemetery, Apache, with Johnny Brookshire, Cyril, officiating. Mrs. Miller Cottrell died Friday in Chickasha. Burial will be under the direction of Becker Funeral Home, Lawton. She was born March 26, 1920 in Cyril, Oklahoma to James Thomas and Ollie Marie [Whitner] Bates. She graduated from Elgin high school in 1938, and attended nursing school at Cameron College. She was an LPN having worked in Anadarko and Chickasha. She married Ira Courtland Miller on May 26, 1939 in Duncan, OK. He passed away May 22, 1959. She then married L. H. Cottrell on May 21, 1968 in Midland, TX. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cyril, where she was a Sunday School teacher. She played softball into her forty's and was an avid sports enthusiast of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include her two sons, Bailey Ray Miller and wife Debbie of Tuttle, OK, Ira Levoice Miller and wife Deveta of Cyril, OK, daughter, JoAnn Polly and husband Jim of Anadarko, OK, grandchildren, Lonnie Miller of Tonkawa, OK, Freddie Miller of Tonkawa, OK, Dannie Miller and wife Kyla of OKC, OK, Michael Miller and wife Laura of Chickasha, OK, Michelle Neal and husband Sam of Elgin, OK, Brad Miller of Cyril, OK, Beth Polly Jones and husband James of Houston, TX, Jimmy Ray Polly and wife Theresa of OKC, OK, great grandchildren, Lindsey, Lesley, Addison, Tanner and wife Stephanie, Justin, Megan, Jeyden, Bradley, Emma, Hannah, Joshua and a great-great grandchild, Landon Cole. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Alvin Jefferson Bates and James Joyce Bates. © Wilson-Little Funeral Home Purcell, Oklahoma May 2020 Rudean [Roberts] Miller August 15, 1939 ~ ~ May 21, 2020 Rudean Miller, age 80 of Purcell, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2020, in Norman. Rudean Roberts was born August 15, 1939 in the Arbuckles, Murray County, Oklahoma. She was the oldest of 3 children born to Dean and Ruth [Brubaker] Roberts. She spent her early years in the Arbuckles and lived in Lawton for a short time, before moving to Elgin. She attended Elgin Schools, graduating with the Owls Class of 1957. She then attended Cameron College in Lawton where she obtained her Associates Degree. Rudean married Bobby Earl Miller, and to this union 3 children, daughter Gwen and sons, Bryan and Mike were born. They lived in Lubbock, Texas for a time, but they missed the small-town atmosphere and they moved back to Oklahoma, settling in Purcell. Rudean finished her schooling at the University of Oklahoma, where she earned her Bachelors. In 1973, Rudean’s life was changed forever when Bobby was tragically killed. Rudean faced many challenges as a single mother. She worked hard to provide for their every need. She retired as a Social Worker from the Department of Human Services in McClain County. Rudean was a strong woman, with unwavering faith, and a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Purcell. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be dearly missed! She was preceded in death by: Her husband, Bobby Earl Miller; Her parents, Dean and Ruth Roberts and Her brother, Donald Roberts. Rudean is survived by: Her sons, Bryan Miller of Norman and Mike Miller of Purcell; Her daughter, Gwen Ferguson and husband Kris of Enid; Her brother Dale Roberts and wife Jackie of Sulphur; 3 grandsons, Scott Ferguson and wife Amber of Enid, Blake Ferguson of OKC and Jacob Ferguson of Enid; 1 great granddaughter, Elliott Ferguson and a host of other family and friends. Graveside Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 27, 2020, at the Fairview Cemetery in Apache. |
