Marilyn Lou [Nielsen] McDaniel

Marilyn Lou McDaniel, 72, passed away on January 13, 2016 peacefully in her home with her family by her side. She was born February 24, 1943 at Laverne, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of James and Selma E. VanFleet Nielsen. Marilyn attended school in Laverne, Oklahoma. On June 3, 1961 Marilyn married the love of her life Charley "Bud" McDaniel in Laverne and enjoyed the next 56 years together. From that union brought three sons, six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

Marilyn was a very spiritual person and read her Bible daily. She lived the life she preached and followed the word of God. She was very active in her community and worked in Apache for many years as the manager of Bills Dollar Stores where she developed many amazing long lasting relationships with wonderful people. Her commitment to her job showed as she was named manager of the year for Bill's dollar stores across several states. She was offered a regional manager position but chose to retire and enjoy time with her family and staying around the house. She enjoyed working around her house and loved being around the cattle. She loved raising bottle calves and naming each and every one of them. She enjoyed many wonderful trips to Branson with hers sisters Carolyn and Jeralyn and the guys and getting to spend time with them and creating those everlasting memories for all of them. The most cherished thing in her life was her family especially her grandchildren who she made sure they always had what they needed.

Marilyn is survived by her husband Charley "Bud" McDaniel, Three sons Charles and Ruby McDaniel, Burkburnett TX., Norman and Darla McDaniel, Apache, Ok. , Larry and Jamie McDaniel, Apache, Ok ; Six Grandchildren Nicole and Justin McDaniel, Apache, Jesse and Dawson McDaniel, Burkburnett TX., Makenzie and Mason McDaniel, Apache ; and two great-grandchildren Hunter Wayne McDaniel and Beau Hutchinson. Two Sisters Carolyn and Jerroll Goebel, Moundridge Kansas, and Jeralyn Hartmann, Enid Oklahoma, One Brother Gary and Angie Nielsen of Laverne Oklahoma along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers Norman, Jimmy and Don Nielsen, brother-in-law Tom Hartmann, niece Donna Carlson and nephew Jim Nielsen.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 15th at 2:00 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Chris Stinnett officiating and assisted by Rev. Bud Jones. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Crews Funeral Home.
