Adele Pearl Mason


Miss Mason was born on October 30, 1900 in Roff, Indian Territory to Walker Hatcher and Julia Mary Mason and passed away in Chickasha on March 19, 2006 at age 105.

She worked as a teacher for 39 years retiring in 1965. The Third grade being her favorite age, she began teaching at South School, in Chickasha, in 1946.

This she describes as a specially "pleasant" time in her life.

Adele spent several summers traveling. She said that she was supposed to be taking classes to continue her education but the school board allowed her to make reports on her European and American travels that they accepted in lieu of college hours.

She saw 45 of the American states, five provinces in Canada and seven countries in Europe.

Miss Mason was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Chickasha. She was also a member of the Women's Missionary Society, Business Woman's Sunday School Class, and the Wesleyan Service Guild.

She was a member of the teacher's sorority Kappa Kappa Iota.

She was preceded in death by: parents; two brothers: Ray and Emile Mason; two sisters: Flora Meacham and Lorena Fullerton.

Survivors include: two nephews: Royce and Dee Meacham of Ninnekah; James Fullerton of Lawton; one niece: Julia and husband Terry Bell of Cache; four great nieces Marci Adele and husband Bill Cline of Bridgeport, TX; Kym and husband David Thurman of Panama City, FL; Karla and husband Stephen Smith of Edmond, OK; Lisa Bell of Cache, OK; one great nephew Mark Meacham of Bedford, TX; Drew and wife Narla Mason of Huntsville, AL; Mark and wife Kim Mason of Cedartown, GA; two first cousins: Rena Bray of Ft. Worth, TX; Gladys Fullerton of Tulsa, OK; and numerous other cousins.

Funeral Services will be held in Crews Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Johnny Wray, Chaplain of Lifeline Hospice.

Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Apache, under the direction of Crews Funeral Home.
