Home Duncan, Oklahoma June 2018 Lee Junior Lewis December 23, 1936 ~ June 6, 2018 Lee Junior Lewis Of Apache, OK Was born December 23, 1936 in Yale, OK to Walter Levi and Velma [Hankins] Lewis. He passed away June 6, 2018 in Lawton, OK at the age of 81. Lee graduated from Yale High School in 1956. He went to work for Texaco. He married Camilla Lea Swingle on May 10, 1958 in Yale. She preceded him in death on April 3, 1992. They lived in Marietta, OK before moving to Apache in 1973. After working for Texaco in refining for 38 years, he retired as a production foreman in 1995. Lee kept active playing golf, fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed playing cards with his friends. He especially loved spending time with his family. He is survived by: One son - Kelly Lewis Bryan, TX Two daughters - Tonya Derieg Apache, OK Sylvia Lewis Wewoka, OK 3 grandchildren - Shanna Lewis, Jackson Lewis, Cami Derieg 2 great-grandchildren - Kennedy and Kaitlyn Shelburne 2 brothers and their wives - Marion and Earlene Lewis Yukon, OK, Vic and Connie Lewis Manford, OK, 2 sisters-Rosetta Rogers Okmulgee, OK Sharon and husband, David Sheedy Morris, OK, Many nieces and nephews, His close friend, and neighbor - Jon Parker Apache, OK> He was preceded in death by: His parents, His wife, 1 great-granddaughter - Kierstyn Renee Shelburne, 2 sisters - Christine Smith, Anna Speers. Graveside services will be held in Fairview Cemetery at Apache on Saturday, June 9th at 11:00 A.M. with his friend, Dewayne Wilcox, officiating. April 2019 Gerald Wayne Lee September 15, 1938 ~ April 12, 2019 Funeral for Gerald Wayne Lee, 80, Elgin, will be at 1:00pm Monday, April 15, 2019 at Northwest Church of Christ in Lawton with Monte Jennings officiating. He passed away Friday, April 12, 2019 in Lawton with his family at his side. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Apache under direction of Crews Funeral Home. Gerald Lee was born September 16, 1938 in Purcell, OK to Melvin and Inez [Gibson] Lee. He grew up and lived on the family farm. In 1956 he graduated from Apache High School. For his first two years post education he went to Cameron College and worked as a checker for Homeland. He received his undergraduate degree from East Central in 1961 and started teaching at Olney High School near Coalgate in 1961-1962. In 1962 he started teaching at Lawton High. In 1967 he moved his family to Atlanta, GA to attended Atlanta University on a full-ride scholarship, not knowing he was going to an all-black university during the height of the Civil Rights era. He earned his Masterâ•.s Degree in May of 1968 from Atlanta University. He taught at Lawton High School from 1962 until MacArthur High opened up. He was head of MacArthurâ•.s math department until retirement in 1992. As a result of his instruction and mentorship, many of his students were prepared to attend MIT and WestPoint. Gerald met Barbara Tillman on a Senior Saints trip to Branson. They married August 16, 2016. They spent their time travelling in their pup trailer, even if it meant staying the night at Camp Doris. He was an elder at Western Hills Church of Christ and then at Porter Hill Church of Christ. For twenty years he served on many medical missionary trips to Mexico. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Lee of the home; Children: Teresa K. Waller and husband Kim ; Dr. Angela D. Lee; and Bradley W. Lee and wife Francy; Step-son, Lee J. Tillman; grandchildren: Steven Lee and wife Josie, Blake Waller, Jason Weyher, Olivia Lee, Addison Lee, Wendy Tillman, Aaron Tillman, Baron Tillman II and wife Lana, Rance Tillman and wife Lindsi, Landon Tillman and wife Kendra, Karissa Sykes and husband Jason, and Lee J Tillman; great-grandchildren: Josh Myers, Matthew Myers, Caleb Weyher, Brayden Weyher, Jace Waller, Kallie Waller, Caden Lee, Shelby Weeks, Brendan Weeks, McKenna Madsourivong, Baron Tillman III, Halie Bridges, Lane Bridges, Travis Tillman, Maggie Tillman, Sean Sykes, Colton Sykes, Austin Tillman, Levi Tillman, Jayde Tillman, and Romi Tillman; great-great grandkids: Robin Myers and Elias J. Vealsey; brother, Donald Lee and wife Chris, sister, Nancy Thurman and husband Barney, brother-in-law, Randall Sechrist and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, students and friends. He is preceded in death by his first wife of 56 years, Janice K. Thompson; parents; Melvin and Inez Lee; sister, Melva Sechrist, granddaughter, Wendy Weeks, step-sons, Tyson Tillman and Baron Tillman; and great-granddaughter, Lillie Tillman. |
© Whitt Funeral Home Purcell, Oklahoma October 2014 Janice Kay "Jan" [Thompson] Lee Lee March 13, 1940 ~ October 3, 2014 Janice Kay Lee Of Elgin, Oklahoma Was born March 13, 1940 in Temple, OK to Eddie and Bessie [McAlester] Thompson. She passed away October 3rd in Lawton at the age of 74. Jan married Gerald Wayne Lee on August 31, 1958 in Lawton. She graduated from Cameron University with a Bachelor of Education degree. She taught for the Lawton Public Schools at Parklane Elementary until she retired in 1996. She was greatly loved by her students. Jan was named Teacher of the Year and also received many community education awards. She was part of a teacher's exchange to Japan. Jan loved to do crafts, and tried nearly every type of craft she could. She learned to decorate cakes, and sold many of her creations, enough to pay for a trip to Hawaii. She loved to travel all over the world. She went to China on two separate occasions when her granddaughters were adopted, the Caribbean, and recently traveled to Ireland. She also enjoyed going to flea markets and garage sales and even belonged to a group called Mattie Beal Questers which is a group that gets together and goes antique shopping. She was a faithful member of Northwest Church of Christ in Lawton. Jan did several medical mission trips in Mexico. She loved children and was known to practically adopted those who might need a special friend. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jan is survived by: Her husband, Gerald, of the home 2 daughters - Teresa and husband, Kim Blake Waller Lawton Angela Lee and her companion, Laura Brooks Atlanta, GA 1 son - Bradley and wife, Francy LeeLawton 6 grandchildren - Blake and Jamie Waller; Olivia Lee, Addison Lee, Steven Lee, Wendy and James Weeks, Jason Weyher 8 great-grandchildren - Jace Waller, Kallie Waller, Caleb Weyher, Brayden Weyher, Joshua Myers, Matthew Myers, Shelby Weeks, Brendan Weeks 1 brother and his wife - Robert and Pauline Thompson Oklahoma City, OK Many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: Her parents 1 brother - Rex Thompson 1 sister - Patricia Copeland. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 7th at 2:00 P.M. at Northwest Church of Christ in Lawton with Monte Ginnings, Minister, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery at Apache under the direction of Crews Funeral Home of Apache. A visitation will be held Monday evening from 6-8 P.M. at Northwest Church of Christ. |
