© Crews Funeral Home Apache, Caddo CO, Oklahoma June 2008 October 12, 1949 ~ June 11, 2008 APACHE -- Funeral for Robert "Bobby" Leon Huskey, 58, Apache, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, Apache, with Leon Shade, pastor, officiating. Mr. Huskey died Wednesday, June 11, 2008, in Lawton. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery under direction of Crews Funeral Home. He was born October 12, 1949, in Robinson County, Tenn., to Robert Eugene and Helen Smith Huskey. He married Phyllis Marie Barton in 1970. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War from 1968 until 1974. He received many honors and commendations, including the Vietnam Service Medal with four Bronze Service Stars, the National Defense Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and a Sharpshooter Award. He entered the Army Reserves in 1977 and retired with 20 years of service in the Reserves. He received the National Defense Service Medal-Bronze Star, the Vietnam Service medal, an Army Commendation Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal-First Oak Leaf Cluster, Marksman Achievement and his Drill Sergeant Badge. He married Patricia Sumpter on August 1, 1976, in Apache. He worked for the Lawton Police Department and retired in 2002. He continued working for the Lawton Police Department part time and was a security guard for the Lawton Public Schools District for the past five years. He belonged to the Fraternal Order of Police, and was a member of First Baptist Church in Apache. In 1994, he was inducted into the National Softball Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City. Survivors include his wife, of the home; five children and their spouses: Shelly and Robert Herrera, Lawton; Butch Huskey, and Michael and Paula Miller, all of Apache; Deena and Preston Charity Jr., Lawton; and Tracie Lavelle, Springfield, Tenn.; grandchildren: Jesse and Tori Herrera, Samantha Herrera, Queenie Wilson, Myrakle Charity, Kennedy Huskey, Becky and Brandon Strong and Derrick and Brent Stone; great-grandchildren: Christian, Kyla and Ryley Strong; his parents, John L. and Helen Woodard, Springfield, Tenn.; his mother and father-in-law, W.L. and Elsie Sumpter; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father; and a brother, Donald Ray Huskey. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. |
