© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, January 7, 1959 November 21, 1892 ~ January 1, 1959 Funeral Service For Roy Howard Held At Fort Cobb FORT COBB - Funeral services for Roy Howard, well known Fort Cobb druggist, were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the school auditorium with Rev. Bill Cloud, Cement, officiating. Rev. J.B. France, Hydro, assisted. Burial was in the Fairview cemetery at Apache. Howard, resident of Caddo county since 1911, died Thursday, January 1, in a Chickasha hospital after an illness of several months. He had resigned recently from the Fort Cobb school board of which he had been president for the past 23 years. He was a charter member of the Fort Cobb Rotary lodge and the Fort Cobb Christian church. Native of Georgia, he was born November 21, 1892. He was married to the former Miss Opal Harris at Apache in 1924. They had lived in Fort Cobb since 1933 moving from Apache. He was a veteran of World War I. Survivors include his wife, Opal, of the home; one daughter, Sharon, Fort Cobb; his mother, Mrs. Allie Howard, Fort Cobb; four brothers and two sisters. |
© Crews Funeral Home Apache, Caddo CO, Oklahoma March 2009 December 5, 1926 ~ March 11, 2009 APACHE - Funeral for Donald "Don" Ray Howard, 82, Apache, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Apache, with Les Claborn officiating. Mr. Howard died Wednesday, March 11, 2009, in Chickasha. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery under direction of Crews Funeral Home, Apache. He was born December 5, 1926, in Yale, to Ernest Milton and Beulah Salee Howard. He married Ruby Irine Sumpter on Feb. 11, 1956, in Lawton. She died Feb. 2, 2009. They owned and operated Howard's Cleaners in Cyril and Jimmy's Cleaners in Chickasha for more than 25 years before they retired. He was a member of Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church in Apache. He served as a deacon at Anadarko Pentecostal Holiness Church and then Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church. Survivors include four sons and a daughter-in-law, Ernest Franklin Howard, Lawton; Roy Wayne Howard, Greensburg, Ind.; Donald Linn and Deana Kay Howard, Edmond; and Jerry Don Howard, McKinney, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley Ray and James Cline, Waynesboro, Va.; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; a half-brother,Billy Hill, Santa Barbara, Calif. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren: Jerry Smith and Lori Howard; a daughter-in-law, Janet Howard; a sister, Ernestine Howard; and a brother, Jack Howard. |

Leon Shade officiating. Mrs. Howard died Monday, February 2, 2009, in Chickasha. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery under direction of Crews Funeral Home, Apache. She was born Jan. 14, 1930, at Mountain Home, to Jesse Franklin and Nettie Jump Sumpter. She married Donald Ray Howard in Lawton, on February 11, 1955. They owned and operated Howard's Cleaners in Cyril and Jimmy's Cleaners in Chickasha. They were in the dry cleaning business for more than 25 years before retiring. She lived in the Apache area most of her life and was a member of Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church of Apache. She did embroidery work and beadwork. Survivors include her husband; three sons and a daughter-in-law: Ernest Franklin Howard, Lawton; Roy Wayne Howard, Greensburg, Ind.; and Donald Linn and Deana Kay Howard, Edmond; a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley Ray and James Cline, Waynesboro, Va.; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers: W.L. Sumpter, Apache; and LeVoice Sumpter, Holliday, Texas; and three sisters: Opal Smith, Apache; Jewel Erickson, Clearbrook, Minn.; and Shirley LeCroy, Del City. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren: Jerry Smith and Lori Howard; a daughter-in-law, Janet Howard; a brother, Albert Lindsey Sumpter; two sisters: Joyce Pruitt and Mary Johnson. |
© Crews Funeral Home Apache, Caddo CO, Oklahoma October 2010 February 24, 1958 ~ October 21, 2010 Ernest Howard of Chickasha, Oklahoma was born February 24, 1958 in Oklahoma City, OK to Donald Ray and Ruby Irine (Sumpter) Howard. He passed away at his home on October 21st at the age of 52. Ernest grew up in Apache, OK where he graduated from high school. He was a member of the Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church.v He was married to Rebecca McClure at one time and to this union two daughters were born. He worked building maintenance for apartment complexes for many years until his retirement. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on cars. He did woodcarving and glass etching, and he loved singing Karaoke. Ernest loved spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by two daughters - Valorie Carr and her fiancĂ©, Ryan McClure Cement, OK, Angela Howard Cyril, OK, 7 grandchildren - Kayla Carr, Eugene Carr III, Tiffany Carr, Shaylynn McClure, Katalina Howard, Destiny Howard, Jody Carson, 3 Brothers - Roy and Penny Howard Greensburg, IN, Donald and Deana Howard Edmond, OK, Jerry Don Howard McKinney, TX, 1 Sister - Shirley and Jim Cline Waynesboro, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Jerry Smith. Services will be held Monday, October 25th at 2:00 P.M. at the Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Les Claborn officiating and John Zwolle assisting. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Crews Funeral Home. |
