Oklahoma July 2013 June 20, 1958 ~ July 11. 2013 Memorial service for Charlie Hixon, 55, Apache, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church of Apache with Rev. Rue Scott Officiating. Mr. Hixon died Thursday, July 11, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Hixon was born June 20, 1958, at Wheelus Air Base in Tripoli, Libya to John and Barbara Hixon. He graduated from Apache High School in 1976. He was married to Gloria Bybee, and to this union three children were born.√ He worked as a welder in Alex. He worked primarily as a pipe fabricator on process piping. He was a pipeliner for many years. He met Pamela [Craft] Womack in the summer of 2002 and they were married April 18, 2008, in Lawton. Charlie enjoyed fishing and camping. He loved to go hunting in Colorado and Kansas with his son. In the past 10 years, he spent Thanksgiving week up in Black Kettle National Grasslands near Cheyenne with his family and friends. He was a member of the Duncan Bow Hunters Club. He especially excelled at grilling and would grill at least three times a week, year round, for his grandkids. Charlie was known for his great sense of humor and love for life. He had a great faith in God and appreciated His creation. He is survived by his wife, Pamela, of the home; a son, Garret Hixon, Pratt, Kan.; daughters, Wendi and husband Scott Howard, Cordell, and Bobbi and husband Jason Vail, Apache; stepdaughter, Elizabeth and husband Bill Johnson, Lawton; grandchildren Tyler, Auriana, Ronan, Kiska, Daylee, Madisyn, Vance, Jayden and one on the way; brother Frank and wife Carolyn Hixon, Apache; sister Susan and husband Jim Dovre, Puyallup, Wash.; aunt Bobbie Bybee, Apache; ex-wife Gloria Hixon, Apache; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial contributions may be made to the Apache All Sports Booster Club. |
