© Crews Funeral Home Apache, Caddo CO, Oklahoma April 2015 May 6, 1934 ~ April 20, 2015 Joyce Elois Hix of Apache, Oklahoma was born March 5, 1934 in Protem, Missouri to Albert and Walsie (Woods) Gill. She passed away April 20th in Lawton at the age of 81. She married Glade Chesney on August 31, 1950 and to this union, 5 children were born. He preceded her in death. She worked as a secretary for Oklahoma Department of Human Services for many years. She married Charlie Hix on June 13, 1981 in Apache. He preceded her in death on June 20, 1998 Joyce was a member of the First Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and doing needlework. She loved spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by: 3 sons - Robert Chesney Chattanooga, OK, Steve Chesney Apache, OK, Tony and wife, Lynette Chesney Odessa, TX; 1 daughter - Terry and husband, Dewayne Wilcox Apache, OK; 2 step-sons - Jack and wife, Laura Hix Apache, OK, Cole Hix Apache, OK; 1 step-daughter - Kathy and husband, Doyle Bartley Lawton, OK; 11 grandchildren - Jennifer Whitehead, Jerry Chesney, Serena Barton, Angelica Chesney, Robert Chesney, Jr. ; James Sorrells, Mykl Sorrells, Charlie Wilcox, Chelsea Wilcox, Jesse Hix, Kayla Shaw; 19 Great-grandchildren - Tyler Freeman, Trise Bean, Daiga Barton, Roslyn Chesney, Stephen Sorrells, Jeremy Chesney, Kaylee Chesney, Dylan Sorrells, Delila Sorrells, Amber Sorrells, Jeremy Chesney, Kaile Chesney, Austin Chesney, Brandon Chesney, Trevor Hudnall, Lane Hix, Macy Hix, Cheyenne Shaw, Keegan Carrattini; Several other step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: Her parents, Her two husbands - Glade Chesney and Charlie Hix; 1 daughter- DeeAnn Whitehead; 1 step-daughter - Charlotte Rust; 1 granddaughter - Shannon Freeman; 3 grandsons - Stephen Chesney, Chaz Chesney, Tyner Wilcox. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 23rd at 10:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Bud Jones officiating and assisted by Pastor Kerry Glasgow. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Crews Funeral Home. |
