Apache, Oklahoma April 4, 1947 February 20, 1908 ~ March 28, 1947 Harold H. Hastings, 39 years old, died at his home at 4:20 a. m. Friday after a protracted illness. He was an employee of the Emrich Oil Well Service company and had resided here two years. Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church at 2:30 o'clock Sunday by Rev. A. B. Carson, the pastor. Music was furnished by a mixed choir and Miss Margaret Ella Johnson, pianist, and Mrs. Claud Johnson, violinist. Burial was in Fairview cemetery under direction of the Smith funeral home. Masonic rites were given at the graveside. Pallbearers were Roy Mills, Claud Johnson, Bob Evans, Lynn Thomas, Carl Benson and T. J. Shaw. Mr. Hastings was born at Liberal, Kas., February 20, 1908, and spent his youth there. He came to Oklahoma when a young man and was married to Miss Hassie Smith at Wewoka November 14, 1929. He was employed by the oil well service company in the Seminole county fields before coming to Apache. Because of ill health, he had worked only two months in the last year. He underwent an operation for appendicitis a year ago, and last June was operated on the second time for cancer. He was a member of the Masonic lodge at Stonewall and the Odd Fellows lodge at Sasakwa. Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Billie Jean; a son Jimmy Robert; his mother, Mrs. Minnie Hastings of Sasakwa; and three brothers, Russell Hastings of Tucson, Ariz., Robert Hastings of Cody, Wyo., and Stanley Hastings of Holdenville. |
