Harris October 18, 1897 ~ December 26, 1974 Apache ~ Services were held at 2 p.m. December 29 in the Crews Funeral Home chapel for James M. Harris, 77, a former Apache resident. He died Thursday in a Chickasha hospital, following an extended illness. Rev. Danny Moss, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Apache, conducted the service.Burial was in Fairview Cemetery. Harris was born October 18, 1897 in Oklahoma. He was married to the former Thelma Davenport in Duncan. She preceeded him in death in 1932. He was employed as a telegrapher for the Rock Island Railroad for many years. He came to Apache as an agent for the railroad in 1940, then was transferred to Mangum, where he retired in 1962. Harris was a member of the First Christian Church of Mangum and was a past grand master of the Odd Fellow Lodge of Lone Wolf. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Elton D. Brown of Apache, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. |

Harris June 19, 1942 ~ September 18, 2017 Was born June 19, 1942 north of Stecker in rural Caddo County, OK to Claude and Ida [Mathis] Harris. He passed away at his home in Apache on September 18th at the age of 75. Paul parents died while he was a child, and he went to live with his brother and sister-in-law in Farmington, NM where he graduated from high school. He attended the University of Pasadena in California on a basketball scholarship. He came back to the Apache area and married Connie P. Dailey on October 11, 1963 in Wellington, TX. He worked for Sequoia Carpet Mills in Anadarko until they closed, then he went to work in the oil field. He eventually worked for Kaiser-Francis as a pumper until he retired. After retirement, Paul loved spending time with friends and family. He raised chickens, horses, and other animals. He could be found going to horse sales and drinking coffee with his friends. Paul would often take his grandkids out to feed his chickens and help take care of the animals. He also enjoyed watching Westerns. He is survived by: His wife, Connie, of the home 1 daughter and her husband - Nena and Dennis DeForest Apache 2 sons and their wives - Bryan and Carol Harris Mooreland, OK Travis and Tracy Harris Apache 8 grandchildren - Riley Roberts, Brayden DeForest, Breanna Harris, Garrett Harris, Sam Harris, Travis Harris, Jr., Tatum Harris, Jordan Lindsey 4 great-grandchildren - Paisley Roberts, Karleigh Roberts, William Haven, Hadley Pahcoddy 1 brother and his wife - J.C. and Jeannie Harris Farmington, NM He was preceded in death by: His parents, 3 brothers - Joe Harris, James Harris, Donnie Harris, 5 sisters - Edith Williams, Eileen Jenkins, Faye Hannah, Janice Mindemann, Delores Nash. Special former sister-in-law - Louise “Tobb” Harris. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Crews Funeral Home |
