[Gann] Greeley September 17, 1877 ~ May 18, 1955 Rites Wednesday In Fletcher For Mrs. Sarah Greeley Services were in the Fletcher Methodist church Friday afternoon for Mrs. Sarah Greeley, for the past 50 years a resident of this part of Oklahoma. Burial was in the Apache cemetery under direction of the Dalton Funeral Home. She was the mother of J.P. Greeley of east of town. Rev. Veach, Fort Cobb, pastor of the Methodist church conducted the services. Mrs. Greeley died Wednesday, May 18, in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Stevens, in Amarillo, after being an invalid since she suffered a stroke in July, 1954. Mrs. Greeley was born September 17, 1877 near Prairie Grove, in Washington county, Ark., where she grew to womanhood and married. She came to Oklahoma with her family, first stopping at Westville, in the Indian Nation, but locating nine miles southeast of Hobart in 1905. Later the family lived in Washita county and at Carnegie before Mr. and Mrs. Greeley moved to Fletcher 17 years ago. Mr. Greeley died Dec. 31, 1952. Survivors include two sons, J.P. Greeley, Carnegie, and Ira Greeley, Salinas, Calif.; and three daughters, Mrs. Gladys Beckham, Westville; Mrs. Ruby McCarty, Fletcher; and Mrs. Hazel Stevens, Amarillo. Also a brother, Willie Gann, Lincoln, Ark., and 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. |
