Jo Ann [Kelly] Garrett
January 9, 1934 ~ October 23, 2020

Jo Ann [Kelly] Garrett was born in Sylvester, Texas on January 9, 1934, to Roy Key and Zula May [Anderson] Kelly. She passed away on Friday, October 23, 2020, with her husband and family by her side at home after a long battle with cancer.

She came to Caddo County, Oklahoma from South Texas in 1934.

She was raised in Stecker, Broxton, Washita, and Cogar where she met her future husband, Bobby Garrett. He was recalled to the Korean Conflict and told her that, if she was still there when he got back, he was going to marry her. A year later when he returned she was still waiting for him. They were married in Anadarko in 1950 in a wooden courthouse with squeaky floors by Judge Dewey Hodges. Two sons blessed the union - Terry in 1953 and Ray in 1956.

Jo Ann worked with a real switchboard at the phone company in Anadarko. She retired from the phone company and continued to work for Boeing Aircraft. After several callbacks, she finally retired to the family home north of Apache.

She loved shopping with her grandkids and for her family. She was an early riser, a trait she passed on to certain family members who loved drinking coffee sitting on the porch, drinking more coffee from her cup collections.

She had two Boston Terriers, Wilson and Missy, that were like kids to her. She loved every state and place she lived, especially Napa Valley, California.

She will be greatly missed by her family, close friends, and all that knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Terry Lynn Garrett; brother, Melvin Kelly; sister Sue Tucker; mother- and father-in-law, Luke and Vera Garrett; brother- and sister-in-law, Leon and Wanda Torres; sister-in-law, Paula Padgett; and brothers-in-law, Jimmy Ray Garrett and Don Garrett.

Jo Ann is survived by her husband of nearly 70 years, Bobby Neal Garrett; son, Ray Neil Garrett; grandchildren: Shelby Leigh Garrett and Bobby N. Garrett; great grandchildren: Aubree Garrett, Braxton Liberton, Triston Garrett, and Tyler Garrett; sister, Betty Carter; brother- and sister-in-law, Coy and Lahoma Garrett, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Thursday, October 29, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Crews Funeral Home in Apache. Graveside services are scheduled for Friday, October 30, at 2:00 P.M. at Apache's Fairview Cemetery with David Williams officiating, under the direction of Crews Funeral Home.

Online condolences can be made to the family at www.crewsfh.com.
