Donald Francis Gallagher
April 19, 1936 ~ August 20, 2015


Donald Francis Gallagher of Apache, OK

Donald was welcomed into heaven August 20, 2015.

In his time on Earth he was a hard-working, soft-spoken, and humble husband and father.

Donald was born April 19, 1936 in Carroll, Iowa to Leonard and Lucille [Peterson] Gallagher.

He found his way to Apache, OK where he met Kathryn Lucile Orf. The two were married in Apache on September 1, 1962. They had 53 blessed years together. Don and Kathryn had five children; Christopher, Joan, Patrick, Simon and Roger.

While raising a family, Donald worked for 45 yrs as an instructor at Fort Sill. He was a long-time volunteer and leader in Apache, working for many years with the Boy Scouts of America and serving on the Apache School Board and Apache Ambulance Board. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Don enjoyed woodworking, planting his garden, and traveling to Minnesota with his family. He especially enjoyed spending time with his eight grandchildren; William, Ethan, Kyle, Molly, Harrah, Sophia, Hope, and Gabriella.

Donald is preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Lucille Gallagher of Vail, IA, brother Eugene of Vail, IA, and his son Christopher. He was greatly loved and will be missed by all. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Gallagher of Apache, sister Janet Sander and husband LeRoy of Arcadia, IA, brother Duane Gallagher of Omaha, NB, daughter Joan Gallagher of Piedmont, OK, son Patrick Gallagher and his wife Laurie of Edmond, OK, son Simon Gallagher and his wife Katie of Yukon, OK, and son Roger and his wife DelVon of Edmond, OK; and grandchildren William, Kyle, and Sophia Gallagher of Yukon, Ethan and Molly Hamner of Piedmont, Harrah and Hope Gallagher of Edmond, and Gabriella Gallagher of Edmond, OK.

"For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.” 2 Peter 1:11

A Rosary will be held Friday, August 21st at 7:30 P.M. with Mike Farrell officiating. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, August 22nd at 2:00 P.M. at the Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church with Rev. Benjamin Bandanadam serving as officiant.

Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Crews Funeral Home.
