He was only sick for a few days. He was laid to rest in the Apache Cemetery. He leaves a wife, Malintha Jane [Clampitt] Fry, a son, John Thomas Fray, two brothers, James Christopher Fry and Lewis Washington Fry and a sister, Nancy Jane [Fry] Steen. |
© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, October 30, 1963 March 11, 1876 ~ October 27, 1963 Retired Apache Rancher Dies At Lawton Sunday Funeral services for John Thomas Fry, retired rancher of the Apache area southwest of Carnegie, were held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Crews Funeral chapel at Apache. Rev. B.F. Johns, Apache First Methodist pastor, and Rev. J. Lee Scott, Christian church pastor, officiated. Burial was at Apache. Fry, a rancher who lived 12 miles west of Apache from 1901 to 1955, died Sunday at Lawton after being ill a week. He was born in Montague county, Texas, on March 11, 1876. He was married to May Bell Curtwright at Rocky on November 6, 1898. They moved to the ranch home in 1901 where they remained until retirement and moved into Apache. Mrs. Fry preceded him in death in 1957. He is survived by two sons, Pete of Apache and Lewis of Lawton; two daughters, Mrs. Earl Patterson Sr. and Mrs. Emma Jane Mollet, both of Apache; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were N.W. Goodwin, P.A. Sims, Eddie Doyle, Frank Myers, and A.A. Lewis, all of Apache, and George Hewes, Carnegie. |
