© Crews Funeral Home Apache, Caddo CO, Oklahoma April 2009 June 12, 1921 ~ April 25, 2009 APACHE - Funeral for Betty Jean Kendall Free, 87, Apache, will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, at the First Pentecostal Holiness Church of Apache, with the Rev. Bud Jones officiating with the assistance of the Rev. Ralph Davis and the Rev. Kip Ackley, both of Cyril. Mrs. Free died Saturday, April 25, 2009, in Lawton. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery under direction of Crews Funeral Home of Apache. She was born June 12, 1921, in Newton, Kan., to Claude and Lydia [Hurren] Kendall. She attended Cherryvale, Kan., schools and graduated in 1938. She attended college in Independence, Kan. She married Carl F. Free on February 18, 1940, in Cherryvale, Kan. The couple had two children and their spouses: Ann Free Orf and her husband, Fred, Apache; and Claude "Dub" Free and his wife, E.J., of Brenham, Texas. She was a pastor's wife and with her husband, served many churches throughout Kansas and Oklahoma, including Apache. They eventually retired to Apache in 1981. She was a faithful, active member of the First Pentecostal Holiness Church of Apache. Other survivors include five grandchildren: Mitzi Wright and husband, Shane, Kernersville, N.C.; Kim Hale and husband, Travis, Hyrdo; Kacy Abney and husband, Jeremy, and Linsy Igmire and husband, Nathan, all of Tecumseh; and Megan Free, Brenham, Texas; 11 great-grandchildren: Maresa [Darnell] and Sam Srebanic, Morgan Darnell, Logan Wright, Austin Hale, Noah Sturtz, Douglas Hale, Grayson Hale, Raice Abney, A.J. Barron and Colton Igmire; two great-great-grandchildren: Colton and Sammy Srebanic; and several nieces, nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. |
