© Crews Funeral Home Apache, Caddo CO, Oklahoma December 2019 November 13, 1871 ~ April 25, 1968 Mrs Viola Indiabna Franklin, 96, of 1222 Carroll Drive, died Wednesday night in a local hospital. Mrs Franklin was born November 13, 1871, at Burnt Prairie, Ill. She taught school in Illinois before coming to Oklahoma. She was married to Benjamin J. Franklin August 15 1893, in Cisne, Ill. Mrs franklin came to Ponca City, Okla in 1901, moving to a farm five miles north of Apache in 1902. They moved to a farm south of Apache in 1922. Following her husband’s death in 1940 Mrs Franklin moved to Lawton in 1958. She was a member of the First Christian Church at Apache, and had joined the Christian church in Illinois in 1890. Mrs Franklin was a member of the Cloverleaf Club in Apache, Also. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs Marie Woolf, of San Bernardino, Calif; and Mrs Thelma Little, 1222 Carroll Drive; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and one great[grear-grandchild. Service will be ar 2 p.m. Saturday in the First Christian Church in Apache. Rev S. A. Crouch, pastor, will officiate. Burial in Faiurview Cemetery will be under direction of Crews Funeral Home. |
© Crews Funeral Home Apache, Caddo CO, Oklahoma December 2019 February 23, 1935 ~ December 19, 2019 Mary Francis Irene Boone Franklin was born February 23, 1935, in Anadarko, Oklahoma to Lester G. and Pearlean [Dabney Boone. She was raised in Washita. Mary passed away in her home on December 19, 2019, after a long, hard fight with cancer. Mary graduated from Apache High School in 1953, where she enjoyed playing basketball and received the nickname "Gunner". After high school Mary received her beautician's license and worked at the Ft. Cobb beauty shop, along with several beauty shop in the Apache area. She also worked as a waitress. She met and married the absolute love of her life, Ben Franklin, on September 13, 1952. They had 2 sons, Royce and Lesley. The couple built their home in Stecker, where they could be near their families, for family was the most important thing in life to Mary. She was often quoted as saying "You can lose everything else but, as long as you still have family, you have everything!" And she lived by those words. She enjoyed traveling and had many stories from her travels. But being with family was her favorite place to be. And if you were Mary's friend, you were her friend for life, she had high loyalty and treasured her friendships. One very special friend to Mary was Martin McCay, the guy she loved spending time with and who was by her side for the last several years. Mary is survived by sons, Royce and Trecia [Roberts] Franklin of Apache, and Lesley and Janine [Selensky] Franklin of Stecker; grandchildren, Selina and Gary Stirzinger of Riley, Michigan, Kimberly and Corey Inmon of Yukon, Tisha Franklin of Dallas, and Benjamin and Eva Franklin of Apache; 4 great grandchildren, Heidi, Blake and Bryce Stirzinger and Alexander Inmon; sisters, Pearlean Woods of Apache and Gay Clagg of Wynnewood; and sisters-in-law, Vesta Boone of Texas and Van Boone of Lawton. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ben Franklin; brothers, Wallace, Curby, Jackie and Lester; and sister, Margie Fredrickson. Mary was a member of the First Pentecostal Holiness Church of Apache where she attended regularly. She was very loved and will be missed dearly. 2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought a good fight. I have finished my race. I have kept the faith. A graveside service is scheduled for Sunday, December 22, at 2:30 PM at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Bud Jones and Rev. Caleb McDowell officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Crews Funeral Home.
