© Crews Funeral Home Apache, Caddo CO, Oklahoma August 2016 September 18, 1944 ~ August 31, 2016 Terry Gregory Dorrell Ok Apache, OK was born September 18, 1944 in Carnegie, OK to Bennie White and Vera [Clark] Dorrell. He passed away, surrounded by his loving family, on August 31st in Lawton, OK at the age of 71. Terry married Alma Laverne Robinson on September 21, 1963. They did not have their marriage license at that time, so they married once again, on September 24th in her parent’s living room. Terry was heard to say that he carried on a 40 year love affair with the love of his life that continued on, even after she had passed away February 8, 2010. They lived in Gracemont where he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gracemont. He served as their music director for several years. He led the Royal Ambassadors, taught Sunday school, sang and worked in lay ministry. He had a strong faith in God, and read his Bible daily. They moved to Apache in 1973 and he became a member of the First Baptist Church of Apache, continuing his ministry in the church. Terry loved to sing and play guitar, he was also a talented yodeler. He enjoyed hunting and was an avid fisherman. He liked spending time outdoors in his garden. Terry also liked to read, and read many different kinds of literature. He loved learning new things. He worked for Apache Public Schools, until his retirement, as the Maintenance Supervisor. He was known as a selfless man who always put family and friends first in his life. As his own health declined, he learned to adapt and overcome physical trials, never complaining and always remained upbeat, being grateful to God. First and foremost, Terry loved his family, and enjoyed spending time with them. He is survived by: 3 sons - Robert and Susan Dorrell Yukon, OK David Dorrell and Marty Reese Apache, Darren and Dana Dorrell Gracemont, OK 4 daughters - Amy Jo Horn Anadarko, OK, Vickie Dorrell and Jeff Penn Walters, OK, Melissa and Shawn Josey Apache, Rhonda Roberts Apache; 19 grandchildren - Bobby Dorrell, Kelli Dorrell, Tiffany and David Gray, Sabrina Dorrell, D.J. and Cheyenne Dorrell; Kathy Dorrell, Toni Dorrell, Isabel Dorrell, Benjamin and Sara Hutton, Zachary and Kayla Hutton, Gregory and C.J. Roberts, Terry Dale Dorrell, Katy Dorrell, Maisey Dorrell, Dalton Josey, Tanner Josey and Nicole Rosas, Sarah Josey, Morgayne Roberts, Connor Roberts; 9 great-grandchildren - Paytan Dorrell, Gabriel Gray, Jaxton Gray, Julian Gray, Brooklynn Dorrell, Kasyn Dorrell, Grayson Dorrell, Raelynn Hutton, Quinn Hutton and 1 more on the way. 1 brother - Ellis and Lorene Dorrell Piedmont, OK; 2 sisters - Gloria and Jasper Phipps Mustang, OK, Dorothy and Dave Spaulding Cedar Springs, MI; Many nieces and nephews, Brutus, Snuffer, and Sunshine. He was preceded in death by: His parent; His wife; 2 sisters - Verlin Bonner, Shirley Reeves; 1 brother - Victor Dorrell. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 3rd at 10:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Leon Shade officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Crews Funeral Home. © Crews Funeral Home Apache, Caddo CO, Oklahoma February 2010 July 28, 1945 ~ February 8, 2010 APACHE: Funeral for Alma Laverne Dorrell, 64, Apache, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Leon Shade officiating. Mrs. Dorrell passed away Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, at her home. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under direction of Crews Funeral Home. She was born July 28, 1945, in Mountain Park, to Jackie Lee and Betty Jo Denham Robinson. Alma grew up in Mustang, and holds the Mustang High School record for the highest points scored in a girl's basketball game. She was a member of the National Honors Society. She married Terry Gregory Dorrell in a church service on September 21, 1963. Because they forgot to obtain a marriage license, they had to marry again three days later on September 24, 1963, in their living room. Ever since, she always expected two anniversary presents. She attended college at University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, Chickasha, where she earned two bachelor's degrees in English and special education. She taught at Verden then Newcastle before taking time to raise her family. They moved to Gracemont in the spring of 1973. She was very active in her community and First Baptist Church of Gracemont. She served as the church's secretary and was the director of the Women's Missionary Union. She was a Vacation Bible School director, a Sunday school teacher and oversaw the GA's [Girls in Action] and the Acteens. In 1988, they moved their family to Apache, where she enjoyed her role as No. 1 MeMa. She became a member of First Baptist Church of Apache. Alma had a very kind heart and was the type of person who never met a stranger and was always a friend to everyone she met. When not doing things with her grandchildren, she enjoyed doing crafts, scrapbooking, floral arranging, crochet and reading. She loved to spoil her family with doing special things for holidays and special days. She is survived by her husband, Terry, of the home; three sons and daughters-in- law: Robert and Susan Dorrell, Yukon; David Dorrell and Marty Reese, Apache; and Darren and Dana Dorrell, Gracemont; four daughters and a son-in-law: Amy Jo and Bill Horn, Midwest City; Vickie Dorrell and Jeff Penn, Walters; Melissa and Shawn Josey, Apache; and Rhonda Roberts, Apache; 20 grandchildren: Bobby Dorrell, Kelli Dorrell, Tiffany Dorrell, Sabrina Dorrell, Darren Dorrell Jr., Kathy Dorrell, Toni Dorrell, Isabel Dorrell, Samantha Horn, Benjamin Hutton, Zachary Hutton, Gregory Roberts, Terry Dale "Bubba" Dorrell, Katy Dorrell, Maisey Dorrell, Dalton Josey, Tanner Josey, Sarah Josey, Morgayne Roberts and Connor Roberts; two great-grandchildren: Paytan Dorrell and Kacie Dorrell; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Jack and Diane Robinson, and Donny and Janis Robinson, all of Piedmont; two sisters and a brother-in-law: Linda Robinson, and Shirley and Bill Swinford, all of Piedmont; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
