© Crews Funeral Home Apache, Caddo CO, Oklahoma October2011 March 20, 1928 ~ October 13, 2011 Donald Eugene "Gene" Delk of Apache, OK was born March 20, 1928 two miles south of Apache to Theodore James and Susie Virginia [Bumgarner] Delk. He passed away October 13th in Lawton, OK at the age of 83. After graduating high school, he went to work for Dolese Brothers as an electrician. He married Billene Jones on February 20, 1951 in Clinton, OK. She preceded him in death on January 26, 1986. He became a supervisor at Dolese in 1968 and eventually became superintendent over the Richards Spur and Cooperton plants until he retired in 1988. He married Paula Jackson Baird on April 17, 1986 in Duke, OK and she preceded him in death on October 29, 2007. Gene was a member of the First Baptist Church of Apache. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking. He also liked working on clocks and was a collector of tractors. He is survived by: 1 Son - Rick Delk and his friend, Kathy Lambert Apache, OK; 2 Daughters and their husbands - Jana and Jim Roberts Edmond, OK Jeannie and Bobby Holden Fletcher, OK; 3 Step-sons and their wives - Lestie and Carol Baird Bentonville, AR, Bobby and Linda Baird Duke, OK, Rev. Gary and Shirley Baird Sayre, OK; 7 Grandchildren - Cory Delk, Jenna Delk, Heather and husband, David Pratt, Sara Holden, Dustin and wife, Kristen Holden, Shay and wife, Natalie Brummer, Dru and wife, Tammi Brummer; 5 Great-grandsons - Brody Pratt, Gavin Brummer, Cole Brummer, Cade Brummer, Reed Brummer; Several Step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 2 sisters - June and husband, Chuck Riddle Wichita, KS, Jackie Sue Jacobs Lakeside Village, OK and a special friend, Rosie Zimmerman. He was preceded in death by: His parents; His two wives, Billene Delk and Paula Delk; 1 brother-Bill Delk and 1 great-granddaughter-Faith Holden. Services will be held Monday, October17th at 10:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church with Rev. A.L. Swagerty officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Crews Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and the Apache Public Library. |
