Erma Doris [Parmer] Coffman
May 16, 1928 ~ October 16, 2012


Erma Doris Coffman of Apache, Oklahoma was born May 16, 1928 to Homer B. and Rachel L. [Miller] Parmer, southwest of Apache in Caddo County. She passed away peacefully in her home in Apache on October 16, 2012 after a lengthy illness, at the age of 84.

Doris was raised in the Apache area and attended Apache Public Schools, where she graduated with Top Honors as the Valedictorian of her class.

She also became a member of the Oak Street Church of Christ at an early age. Her grandfather, G.W. Parmer, was a Church of Christ minister years earlier.

Doris started working as a young woman for her parents in the family owned grocery store, and local drugstore and bakery.

On January 17, 1947, she married Ernie L. Coffman in Apache, where they continued to live and raise their family.

She was employed by the First National Bank of Apache for 30 years, with 12 of those years devoted to the Patterson-Manar Insurance Agency.

She served in the Apache Town council for many years as City Treasurer.

She performed volunteer duties at the Senior Nutrition Center.

She was a devout Christian and dedicated her life to God, family and her church.

She enjoyed working in her yard and flower gardens. She will be greatly missed by her family, and her lifelong friends.

She is survived by: 2 sons and their wives - Charles and Sheila Coffman Apache, OK and G.E. and Jackye Coffman Apache, OK; 2 daughters - Brenda Payne Nipomo, CA and Kathryn and husband, Tom Glover Lawton, OK; 1 former son-in-law - Donald Payne Lawton, OK; 9 grandchildren - Jeremy and wife, Vanessa Coffman; Grant and wife, Jamie Wilkerson; Benjamin and wife, Andrea Payne; Angela and husband, Donovan Heminokeky; Jared and wife, Kara Coffman; Ashley Payne and Justin Ford; Jamie Coffman; Chase and wife, Brandi Coffman; Bryce Coffman and Casey Denton; 15 great-grandchildren - Cody Coffman, Erin Heminokekey, Daniel Coffman, Cheyenne Coffman, Dustin Coffman, Dayton Coffman, Kyndell Coffman, Faith Payne, Allison Payne, Issac Payne, Connor Coffman, Carysn Coffman, Farrah Ford, Gage Wilkerson, Wynn Ford.

She was preceded in death by: Her parents, Homer and Rachel Parmer; Her husband, Ernie Coffman.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, October 19th at 2:00 P.M. at the Oak Street Church of Christ with Roy young officiating and assisted by Ronnie Orf.

Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Crews Funeral Home.

Sheila C. [Challis] Coffman
July 23, 1951 ~ May 16, 2019


Sheila C. Coffman, 67, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2019, in Apache, Oklahoma. She was born July 23, 1951, in Anadarko to Everett and Lorene []Dodson] Challis.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at 10:00 A.M., at the First Baptist Church in Apache, with Dewayne Wilcox officiating.

The family will have a private interment at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Crews Funeral Home.

Sheila graduated from Apache Public Schools.

She married Charles Coffman in Apache on March 21, 1970.

She was employed at Fort Sill for a short time after finishing high school until she decided to stay home with her children.

She returned to work at Fort Sill in 1982 as a Finance Technician with the Defense Finance and Accounting Office for 24 years until her retirement in 2006.

Sheila enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports, going to movies and concerts. She also enjoyed listening to her favorite music and watching her favorite TV shows. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include two sons: Jeremy and wife Vanessa, Jared and wife Natasha of Apache; and daughter, Jamie of the home; grandchildren: Cody, Daniel, Cheyenne, Dustin, Dayton, Kyndell and Harper Coffman, Tomas Garcia and Josiah Claborn all of Apache; brothers: Harold Challis of Georgetown, TX, Gaylon Challis of Hurst, TX, and Larry Challis of Midwest City; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Coffman, and her parents, Everett and Lorene Challis.

Charles Darwin Coffman
April 22, 1952 ~ October 11, 2015


Memorial service for Charles D. Coffman, 63, Apache will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct.16, 2015, at the First Baptist Church in Apache, with Pastor Roy D. Young officiating.

Mr. Coffman passed away Sunday, October 11, 2015, in Lawton.

Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Apache under the direction of Crews Funeral Home.

He was born April 22, 1952, in Anadarko to Ernie and Doris [Parmer] Coffman.

He graduated from Apache Public Schools.

Charles married Sheila Challis on March 21, 1970 in Anadarko.

He was a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers [IBEW] 1141 and worked as an electrician for several construction companies until he retired 2011.

He served in the Oklahoma Army National Guard for six years as a Field Wireman until he was Honorable Discharged in 1976.

Mr. Coffman was a member of the Cyril Masonic Lodge, while there he served as the Past Master of the Cyril Masonic Lodge. He earned the thirty second degree Master Mason, as a member of the A&A Scottish Rite of Freemasonry at McAlester and then went onto become a member of the India Shriners of Oklahoma. He was also a member of the American Legion, Post 193.

Charles enjoyed fishing, acrylic painting and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Sheila of the home; two sons: Jeremy and wife Vanessa, Jared and wife Kara both of Apache; and daughter, Jamie of the home. Brother G.E. Coffman and wife Jackye of Apache, sister Kathryn Glover and husband Tom, and brother-in-law Donald Payne all of Lawton. Seven grandchildren: Cody, Daniel, Cheyenne, Dustin, Dayton, and Kyndell Coffman; and Michelle Longhat all of Apache; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernie and Doris Coffman and sister Brenda Payne.

Honorary pallbearers include Johnny Brigham, Robert Sims, Steve Myers, Larry Edwards, Dave Ward, Mike Miller and Keith Roberts.
