© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, March 6, 1935 July 14, 1887 ~ March 2, 1935 R.T. Carter Rites Held at Apache 4th R.T. Carter, Apache druggist, and former resident of this place, died at his home Saturday morning at the age of 48, after an illness that had caused him more or less suffering for a number of years. Funeral services were held at the Apache Methodist church Monday afternoon by Rev. W.R. Steumake, pastor and interment was made in the Apache cemetery under the auspices of the Masonic lodge, of which he was a member. Many persons from Carnegie and the Alden community where other members of the family live, attended the services Monday. Mrs. Carter and a daughter, Miss Eleanor, student at Oklahoma College for Women, of his immediate family survive. Other relatives include: Jean Carter, a brother, and Mrs. R.C. Truitt and Mrs. E.C. Berkley, sisters, of this place; J.P. Carter and Ralph Carter, brothers, Geneva, Ala.; Crossley Carter, a brother, Brighton, Colo., and Mrs. Ben Symon, a sister, St. Louis. Roe Talbert Carter was born in Troy, Ala. July 14, 1886 and died at Apache, Oklahoma March 2, 1935, aged 48 years, 5 months and 18 days. He graduated from Alabama Polytechnic Institute in 1909 and soon after came to Anadarko. In 1910 he was married to Miss Stella Radford of Oklahoma City, a daughter, Eleanor Lucille, being born to this union. In 1911 he moved to Oklahoma City where he lived a number of years, later coming to Carnegie where he was connected with the Jones drug store. In 1918 he went to Apache where he bought the Amphlett drug store and where he has since made his home. |
