Wednesday,

George Carson Beach
February 10, 1947 ~ August 26, 2015

Part Native American, part Nature Boy, but all loving.

George Carson Beach died Wednesday, August 26, 2015.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 31, 2015, at Apache Cowboy Church, U.S. 62, under direction of Whinery Huddleston Funeral Service.

George was born Feb. 10, 1947, in Purcell and raised a military brat who grew up in Hawaii before arriving in Comanche County. As a youngster, he ran the neighborhood with the Kuykendall kids and his brother Mike and enjoyed working on hot rods.

He graduated from Lawton High School in 1967, married Shirley Longanacre and had one son, Douglas. He attended Sears Automotive Tech School and continued with the company until he retired after becoming the top sales leader with company in the interior design and floor covering department.

George was a member of the notorious Lawton Diving Club, with whom he competed and placed in Under Water Society of America Scuba Spear fishing events and Southwest Council. He enjoyed weekend getaways with dive club members and was known to play guitar around the camp fire and make up songs with ease. He had a love for nature and being outdoors. He hitchhiked across America and sailed several oceans and the Gulf of Mexico and floated rivers. He just really loved being out among God's creation.

George founded Moon Tree Visions Artistry and became a renowned woodcarver and artist, winning many grand awards. He traveled the United States with his friend Barthell Little Chief and then wife, Diane Hudgins, showing and selling his one-of-a kind drift wood creations. George was proud of his Chickasha heritage and was a descendent of Tishomingo, the last warrior chief of the Chickasaws, and Chickasaw Gov. Doug Johnston.

He was a loving father and friend to many, never meeting a stranger. He often said, "Treat every person with the same respect, no matter if they wear big diamonds or have no shoes on their feet." Though he had a stroke that set him back from his normal operations he fought through it with his determination and dreams and is in a better place now with the Lord above.

He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Beach and his mother, Laverne "Pat" Harper Beach.

He is survived by his son, Douglas Beach; daughter-in-law, Tina Dyer Beach; grandson, Jackson Beach; brother, Michael Beach; sister, Sandra Hanes; uncle, Doug Harper; aunt, Mary Snow; nephews: David Beach, Danny Beach, Durwyn Harper, Danny Snow and Tony Snow, and nieces: Regina Powers and Cheryl Ann Marsh.
