He passed away December 28th in Apache at the age of 90. After Lawrence graduated from high school, he served in the Navy during World War II. He was married and to this union, a daughter was born. He worked at Tinker Air Force base as an Aircraft Instrument Panel builder. He was a member of the Oak Street Church of Christ. He is survived by: His daughter and her husband- Angelique and Ron Chamberlain, Edmond, OK 2 grandchildren - Evan Chamberlain and Eric Chamberlain, 1 brother - Orville Gene Barton, Oklahoma City, OK 3 sisters- Ann Moore, Apache, OK Neva Jo Ice, Oklahoma City, OK, Vaudene and husband, Bill Adams, Athens, GA. He was preceded in death by: His parents 2 brothers- Victor Barton and Bernard Barton, 1 sister - Glada Dossey. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 3rd at the Crews Funeral Home Chapel with Father Joseph Alsay officiating. Inurnment will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Crews Funeral Home. |

Barton, 71, Apache, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, Apache, with the Rev. Prakash Madineni officiating. Mr. Barton died Wednesday, January 16, 2008, at his home. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Apache, under direction of Crews Funeral Home. He was born May 8, 1936, in Apache, to Lawrence and Eva Barton. He grew up and graduated from Apache High School in 1955. During school and after graduation, he was employed by T.H. Rogers Lumber Company in Apache before enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1958. He was stationed in Jacksonville, Fla., and served as Aviation Boatswain's Engineer [ABE No. 3], aboard the aircraft carrier USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. He left active duty in 1962 to continue in the Naval Reserve, and was honorably discharged in 1964 after serving six years. After he returned to Apache, he worked for Dolese Brothers Company for the past 45 years. He married Mary Ann Nelson on February 11, 1966, in Apache. Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Lawrence C. Barton, Apache; three sisters and two brothers-in-law: Vaudene and Bill Adams, Athens, Ga.; Barbara Ann and Joe Moore, Apache; and Neva Jo Ice, Midwest City; three brothers and two sisters-in-law: Orville Gene and Ruth Barton, Oklahoma City; and Lawrence Barton Jr., and Victor and Lois Barton, all of Apache; in-laws: Betty Keel, Edmond; Frank Nelson, Spokane, Wash.; and Henry Whittrock, Okarche; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Glada Dossey; grandparents: Erastus Victor and Lena Barton, and Samuel and Debbie Munkres. © Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, September 24, 1940 ~ July 5, 2020 Mary Ann Barton was born September 24, 1940, in Apache, Oklahoma to Charles and Helen Nelson. She passed away peacefully at home on July 5, 2020, surrounded by her family at the age of 79 after a lengthy illness. Mary Ann was raised on the family farm south of Apache and graduated from Apache Public Schools in 1958. After graduation she worked at Highway Grocery in Apache where she met her future husband, Bernard. They married February 11, 1966, and to this union they had one son. Mary Ann worked for many years for Apache Farmers Coop before working for Southwestern Bell Telephone, and Sexton & Sexton School Supply before retiring. Mary Ann was a lifelong member of Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, and attended each week before her health issues made it too difficult to attend. She was well known in the community and surrounding area as the garage sale lady, as she loved to go to garage sales and auctions. She enjoyed working in the yard and would see her often on her lawn mower during the summer. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Helen Nelson; her husband, Bernard Barton; three sisters: Betty Keel, Charlene Wittrock, Barbara Wilson; and one brother, Frank Nelson. She is survived by her son, Lawrence and wife Raji Barton; and one granddaughter, Arya, all of Apache. Viewing will be Tuesday, July 7, and Wednesday, July 8, with a rosary service scheduled for 7:00 P.M. Wednesday night at Crews Funeral Home in Apache. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, July 9, at Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in Apache, Ok. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Apache under the direction of Crews Funeral Home.
