Broxton, Oklahoma December 2009 Calvin Ed Alexander September 23. 1914 ~ December 8, 2009 APACHE Funeral for Calvin Ed Alexander, 95, Apache, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Crews Funeral Home Chapel, Apache, with the Rev. Leon Shade officiating. Mr. Alexander died Tuesday, December 8, 2009, at his home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. He was born September 23, 1914, in the Broxton area, to Ed and Mary Rathjens Alexander. He graduated from Broxton High School in 1932. He married Zelma Alivia Massey on November 28, 1934, in Chickasha. He farmed in the Broxton area, raising wheat, cotton and corn. In 1974, he retired from farming and moved to El Reno. He returned to Apache in 1996. He enjoyed baseball and basketball. His greatest passion was gardening, and he kept a garden until this past year. Survivors include three sons and a daughter-in-law: Cleon Calvin Alexander, El Reno; Carrol Ray Alexander, Plano, Texas; and Billie Gene and Judy Alexander, Oklahoma City; 10 grandchildren and their spouses: Cheryl and Roger Cosper, Susan and Kelley Schwartz, Bradley Bomhoff, Krista and Chris Smith, Kylee and Brian Hufnagel, Crystal Alexander, Darlene Alexander, Jana and Mitch Stewart, Jason and Theresa Moore, Brent and Audra Alexander and Joel and Liz Alexander; 20 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a brother and sister-in-law, Clayton and Imogene Alexander, Lawton; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Zelma; two sisters: Mable Cost and Juanita Alexander; an infant brother; and an infant great-grandson. |
El Reno, Oklahoma June 1981 Zelma Alivia [Massey] Alexander February 5, 1917 ~ June 22, 1981 Zelma Alivia Massey Alexander services held Funeral services for Zelma Alivia Alexander, 64, were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 24 at the First Baptist Church in Apache with the Rev. Andy Kamphuis, pastor of the Apache Reformed Church officiating. Mrs. Alexander died suddenly at her home in El Reno on June 22. She was born in the Broxton community on February 5, 1917 and was married to Calvin Ed Alexander at Chickasha on November 28, 1934. They farmed in the Broxton area until they retired and moved to El Reno in 1974. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Christian Church at Broxton. Survivors include her husband, Calvin of the home; three sons, Cleon Calvin Alexander of El Reno, Ok., Carrol Ray Alexander of Anna, Texas, and Billie Gene Alexander of Oklahoma City, Ok.; 10 grandchildren; two sisters, Verna LaRee Good of Porterville, Calif., and Betty Joyce John of Helena. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery with Crews Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were Truman Sechrist, Ron Weber, Gayle Beavers, Randel Sechrist, Kenneth Holland and Dean Hatfield. |
Chickasha, Oklahoma July 2008 Juanita Alexander April 27, 1917 ~ July 11, 2008 CHICKASHA -- Funeral for Juanita Alexander, 91, Chickasha, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Crews Funeral Chapel, Apache, with Darian Catron, pastor, officiating. Miss Alexander died Friday, July 11, 2008, at a Chickasha nursing home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. She was born April 27, 1917, in the Broxton community north of Apache, and graduated from Broxton High School. She received her bachelor of science degree in elementary education from Central State Teacher's College (now U.C.O.) in the summer of 1939. She taught 43 years in the public schools of Caddo County, beginning at Spring Valley, a one-room school southwest of Fort Cobb. She later taught at Oak View, Washita, and Fort Cobb. In 1982, she retired from the Apache School System, where she taught 4th grade for 19 years. In 1974, she was voted Apache Teacher of the Year, and was later honored as Caddo County Teacher of the Year. She was a member of Apache First Christian Church, a life member of the Central State Alumni Association, and a member of the Oklahoma Education Association and the Caddo County Retired Teachers' Association. Survivors include two brothers and a sister-in-law: Calvin Alexander, Apache; and Clayton and Imogene Alexander, Lawton; a niece, Rose Dees, Yucaipa, Calif.; five nephews: Cleon Alexander, El Reno; Carrol Alexander, Anna, Texas; Bill Alexander, Oklahoma City; Frank Alexander, Lawton; and Ken Cost, Phoenix, Ariz.; many great and great-great-nieces and nephews; and many close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Mary Rathjens Alexander; a baby brother, Charley; and a sister, Mabel Cost. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday the funeral home. He graduated from Broxton High School in 1937 and served in the US Army during WWII. He married Imogene Brown on November 27, 1943 in Waurika. They had one son, Clayton Frank Alexander, Jr. and lived on the Alexander family farm near Broxton for over twenty years before moving to Anadarko in 1969. In 1997 Clayton and Imogene Alexander moved to the Village on Lee Retirement Center in Lawton. Survivors include his son Clayton Frank Alexander, Jr. and his wife Linda, of Lawton; two grandchildren, Karen Dawn Gilbert, Oklahoma City, and Kevin Wade Alexander and his wife Tamma, Conroe, Texas; five great grandchildren; Ashley and husband Andy Johnson, Sulphur, Louisiana; Shelby and Tyler Gilbert, Oklahoma City; Kaitlin and Kelsie Alexander, Conroe, Texas; one great-great grandson, Kaiden Johnson, Sulphur, Louisiana; five nephews and three nieces. Lawton, Oklahoma June 2010 Imogene [Brown] Alexander RN September 18, 1922 ~ June 22, 2010 Imogene Brown Alexander Of Lawton, Oklahoma Was born September 18, 1922 in Blackwell, OK to Nathan and Edith Irby Walker Brown. She passed away June 22nd in Lawton, OK. She was 87. As an infant, she moved with her family to a farm near Apache, OK where she grew up and graduated from Apache High School. As a young girl, she and her identical twin sister, Claudine, enjoyed dressing alike and singing duets in the Methodist Church. Her older sister, the late LaVelle Walker Lattimore, lived in Kingfisher, OK. Imogene attended Nursing school at the Western Oklahoma Charity Hospital in Clinton, OK. She met and at the age of 21, married Clayton Frank Alexander, Sr. on November 27, 1943 in Waurika, OK. They had one son, Clayton Frank Alexander, Jr. and lived on the Alexander family farm near Broxton, OK for over twenty years and later moved to Anadarko, OK. As a Registered Nurse, Imogene's nursing career spanned from the Neonatal Unit at Wichita Falls, TX Hospital to Anadarko Hospital, the County Health Department and later years at Silver Crest Nursing Center. In 1997, Imogene moved with her husband Clayton to The Village on Lee Retirement Center in Lawton, OK. Imogene grew up in the First United Methodist Church in Apache where she sang in the choir and was a Sunday School teacher and a member of the United Methodist Women. Later, she attended the United Methodist Church in Anadarko. Imogene was an avid reader and also enjoyed being a part of the Sewing Club in Apache as well as the Federated Club. Lawton, Oklahoma August 2015 March 6, 1935 ~ August 6, 2015 Lillian Marie Alexander Of Apache, Oklahoma Was born March 6, 1935 in Apache to John L. and Lucille [Miller] Crow. She passed away August 6th in Lawton, OK at the age of 80. Marie worked for Bub Tate as his secretary for several years. She later went to work at the Elgin Senior Nutrition Center as a cook. She was a member of the First Pentecostal Holiness Church. She enjoyed visiting with friends and family and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Oklahoma City, Oklahoma February 2015 Billie Gene Alexander April, 23, 1944 ~ February 17, 2015 Billie Gene Alexander, 70, of Oklahoma City, died Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at his home. He was born to parents Calvin Ed and Zelma Alivia Alexander on April, 23, 1944 in Apache, OK. He was grandson to Ed and Mary Alexander and Luther and Stella Massey, both early Apache/Broxton pioneers. He was a graduate of Broxton High School, where he was active in FFA, raising blue-ribbon show stock and also enjoyed basketball. In 1962 Billie was joined in marriage to Judy Marie [Samuels] Alexander and to that union two sons were born. In the 1960's, he worked for American Trailers, pro-active as a their United Auto Workers Representative and then with LeeWay Motor Freight until the company ceased operations in early 1980's. He continued with Metal Container Corporation, retiring from that Anheuser-Bush company after 20 years. He was a skilled carpenter and fabricator and enjoyed fishing, gardening, and relaxing with his grandchildren at "Alexander's Abode" lake home at Lake Texhoma. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by Judy, his wife of 52 years, sons Brent Alexander and Joel & his wife Liz Alexander, all of Oklahoma City. Brothers Cleon Alexander, of El Reno, Oklahoma and Carrol Alexander of Fairview, Texas, grandchildren Trenton Chaz Alexander of Oklahoma City, and Aria, Olivia, Sofia, and Michael Alexander of Erie, PA. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Friday, February 20 at 1st Pentecostal Church in Apache, OK with Reverend Bud Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Crews Funeral Home. |
