© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma July 23, 1969 R. Louise [Chambers] Rogers Louise Chambers, Rogers, Richter was born on July 14, 1923 in Eakly, Oklahoma to Olland and Ollie [Gordon] Chambers. She passed away on Friday, June 26, 2015 at Corn Heritage Village in Corn, Oklahoma. She was raised west of Eakly and attended Eakly public Schools, graduating in 1939. After high school, she went to college at Southwestern Oklahoma State for a year. She married Lewis Rogers in El Paso, Texas and they made their home in Hydro while Lewis was overseas during World War ll. Louise and her sister had a beauty shop in Hydro and she loved her work. Later Louise and her husband moved to a farm northeast of Colony, Ok where they lived until they retired from farming in 1972. She enjoyed reading, playing scrabble, traveling, and quilting. Louise is survived by one son, Rudell Rogers of Foss, Oklahoma: One daughter-in-law, Brenda Rogers of Foss, Oklahoma: Two brothers Wesley Chambers of Oklahoma City and Leon Chambers and his wife, Caroline of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Two Sisters, Gearldine Sims of Chickasha, Oklahoma and Thyra Barney of Ft. Worth, Texas. Five Grandchildren Eleven: Great-Grandchildren One Great-Great-Grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents: her husband Lewis Rogers, Her Son Darryl Rogers: Daughter-in-law June Rogers: two brothers, Truman and O.B.: One sister, Imogene: and one great-grandson. Services will be held Tuesday at 10:00 on June 30, 2015 in the Colony Church of Christ in Colony, Oklahoma with Ezell Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in the Eakly Cemetery under the direction of the Lockstone Funeral Home. |
© Cheyenne Star Cheyenne, OK January 22, 2011 Darryl Lee "Coach" Rogers Darryl Lee "Coach" Rogers was born November 4, 1946 in Carnegie, Oklahoma to Louise and Lewis W. Rogers. He passed away near Foss, Oklahoma at the age of 64. He was married to Brenda Tyler at Wellington, Oklahoma on January 1, 1964. He was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife, Brenda, of the home; 2 sons, Todd Rogers and wife, Susan, Elk City, Oklahoma, Brant Rogers and wife, Darla, Elk City, Oklahoma; 4 grandchildren, Cole, Cooper, Caden and Casen Rogers; his mother, Louise Richter, Elk City, Oklahoma; 1 brother, Rudell Rogers, Foss, Oklahoma; his mother-in-law, Daphene Tyler, Carnegie, Oklahoma, his brothers-in-law, Loyal Tyler and wife, Darlene, Carnegie, Oklahoma, Ronnie Tyler and wife, Leslie, Yuma, AZ; his sisters-in-law, Judy Fuller and husband, James, Ft. Cobb, Oklahoma, Beverley Brewster and husband, Rick, Clinton, Oklahoma, a special aunt and uncle, Geraldine and C.B. Sims, Eakley, Oklahoma and a host of other relatives and friends. Darryl lived for his "6" boys, they made him so proud and happy. His life was made for the times he was hunting and fishing with them; they were the lights of his life. Darryl and Brenda's lives revolved around the "boys', watching them in sports and hobbies. Daryl was an avid Fisherman and Hunter...he was doing what he loved most. Daryl began his 34 year coaching career at Binger,Oklahoma in 1970, from there he moved to Oney, Sterling, Taloga, Reydon and Texoma, Oklahoma. He had many honors in his coaching career, among those was the Northfork All Star Coach, Shiners All Star Coach 270 All Star Coach, Comanche County All Star Ciach, Hi-Plains Conference All Star Coach, Northwest Regional Coach of the year, Southwest Coach of the year, All State defense Coach Small West and others too numerous to mention. Darryl coached the very first All State softball game ever played in Oklahoma. Among his greatest achievements he was induced into the Oklahoma Girls Coaching Hall of Fame in 2006. Honors were not what Darryl lived for, to see his students grow and to reach their fullest potential made him the happiest and proudest. Every one that knew Darryl knew he was a kind, caring, loving and generous man and he will be greatly missed by every one whose life he touched. We know Darryl is celebrating in Heaven on the banks of a river or looking for quail today with one of his best friends, Leldon Harrison. Memorials can be made to Elk City All Sports - 100 Hosanna Drive., Elk City, OK 73644 C/O Mike Clinton. Services were held January 22, 2011 at Reydon Community Building officiated by Rick Kibbe. Burial followed at the Eakley Cemetery under the direction of Whinery-Savage Funeral Service. |
