October 15, 2016 John Byron Reed John Byron Reed Of Cyril, Oklahoma was born February 19, 1959 in Cyril, OK to L.D. and Betty [Cook] Reed. He passed away October 15th in Oklahoma City from complications of ankle replacement surgery. John grew up and attended school in Cyril. He attended Oklahoma City University where he met and later married his first wife, Sherrel Taylor on November 22, 1978. They moved to Guthrie, OK and he worked as a Lab Tech at OU. They relocated to Moore, OK in 1981 for John to attend Pharmacy school at OU. After graduating with a Pharmacist degree, John worked for a couple chain pharmacies before he and Sherrel owned and operated J&S Drugs in Woodville, TX in the mid-80's. IN 1987, John and Sherrel adopted two boys, Steven and Shawn, and raised them in Texas until moving to Cyril in 1994. The opened Cyril Home Care Pharmacy in 1995 with Clifford and LaDonna Marshall, as an infusion pharmaceutical company for those with hemophilia. They also were co-owners of ReBar Cattle with Rick and Jenny Barnes. John and James Higdon bred, raised and sold show pigs under Big Stick Hog Farm. He was actively involved in the FFA program with many of the Cyril youth. John married Carol Tryon [Robinson] on April 18, 2009 after Sherrel's passing in 2008. They blended their families together and he became a father to four more children, David, Shawn, Jennifer and Jason. John was always very active in church and various community organizations. He became very involved in state and national hemophilia organizations was a past-president of the OHF and a current HFA board member, representing Oklahoma. John was a founding member of the HFA Blood Brotherhood Committee and spent countless hours working on membership to their website. He also served as a lead advocate for people with bleeding disorders and the Hepatitis C virus. Upon his return to Cyril, John was very active in the First Christian Church and held positions as Elder, frequent board member, board chairman, Sunday school teacher for the adult class and worked with youth. He also contributed to the choir with his captivating voice. Most recently, John served as the church treasurer. John loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed golfing, hunting fishing and bowling. He is survived by: His wife, Carol, of the home Two sons- Steven Reed Rush Springs, OK Shawn Reed Rush Springs, OK 3 step-sons- David and wife, Amanda Robinson San Antonio, TX Shawn Robinson Lawton, OK Jason and wife, Jessica Robinson Norman, OK 1 step-daughter- Jennifer and her husband, Joe Neustaedter Oconomowoc, WI 17 grandchildren 2 great-grandchildren His two mothers-in-law- Clytee Taylor, of the home Nonie Tryon San Antonio, TX 3 brothers-in-law- Mitchell Taylor, Dwayne Taylor and John Tryon Many nieces, nephews and cousins And an extended family of people locally and across the nation who will greatly miss him. A memorial service will be held Friday, October 21st at 10:00 A.M. at the First Christian Church of Cyril with Pastor Delbert McCurley officiating. Wednesday, August 20, 2008 Sherrel Lynn [Taylor] Reed CYRIL -- Memorial service for Sherrel Lynn "Taylor" Reed, 54, Cyril, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Cyril High School Auditorium. Mrs. Reed died Monday, Aug. 18, 2008. Arrangements are under direction of McRay's Cyril Funeral Home. She was born Jan. 7, 1954, in Caney, Kan., to James and Clytee Taylor. She grew up and attended school in Fort Smith, Ark. She moved to Oklahoma City to work and attend school in 1975. She married John Reed on Nov. 22, 1978, at Oklahoma City University, where she had worked in a number of positions including the assistant director of financial aid. They then moved to Guthrie, where they worked and went to school. In 1981, they moved to Moore, for her husband to attend pharmacy school. After graduating with a degree in business finance from Central State University in 1981, she worked for Duncan Oil Company for several years. In 1984, they moved to the Woodville, Texas area, where she was city manager for Wildwood, Texas. She was later financial manager for the City of Woodville for a number of years. They also owned and operated J & S Drugs in Woodville, Texas, for a many years. They were involved with the local Chamber of Commerce and many other charities. In 1987, they adopted two boys, and raised them in the Texas area until 1994 when they moved to Cyril. They opened Cyril Home Care Pharmacy in 1995 with Clifford and LaDonna Marshall. They also own and co-operate ReBar Cattle Company with Ricky and Jenny Barnes. She was the financial operator of these businesses. She was also the treasurer for numerous organizations in the Cyril area. She served on the Cyril First Christian Church board, and was a member of the Cyril School Board for many years until her death. Survivors include her husband, of the home; her mother, of the home; a son, Steven, of San Antonio; a son, Shawn, of Cyril; two brothers: Mitchell Taylor, San Antonio; and DuWayne Taylor, Moore; three nieces and two nephews; many great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins; and an extended family in the community.
