© The Cyril News Cyril, Oklahoma February 22, 1968 Earnest A. Pelzer Services Held Here Sunday For Earnest A. Pelzer Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. for Earnest A. Pelzer, 79 of Cyril. Officiating at the services, which were held at the First Christian Church, were Rev. Virtus Gloe and Rev. Charles Kasinger. Pelzer was born in Hixon, Wisconsin on April 24, 1888 and died in a Chickasha hospital early Friday morning following a year's illness. He had moved to Oklahoma with his parents at the age of nine years. The family settled in the Chickasaw Nation, India Territory in Eastern Oklahoma and moved to the Verden area in 1901. He was married to Laura Edwards at Stecker on February 10, 1919. They moved to Cyril in 1921 and farmed until is retirement four years ago. He had been a member of the Lutheran church for 65 years. Casket bearers at the services were Hollis Anderson, Dean Bradshaw, Raymond Williams, Russell Scoggins, S. T. Bennett, Adrian Hollarn, P.A. Sawyer and Gary Gloden. Burial was in Celestial Gardens Cemetery, Cyril, Oklahoma, under the direction of Cyril Funeral Home. Survivors include the wife of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Ila Scoggins of Cyril and Mrs. Helen Williams, Stillwater; one sister, Mrs. Bertha Ryan, Chickasha; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren. |
© The Cyril News Cyril, Oklahoma Thursday, September 13, 1994 Laura Etta [Edwards] Pelzer Funeral for Mrs. Laura Etta Pelzer, 84, Cyril will be at 2:30 p.m. today, Thursday, Sept 13, 1984, in the First Christian Church, Cyril, Rev. Gary Childs and Rev. David Dickinson will officiate. Mrs. Pelzer was born Nov 14, 1899 in DeLeon, Texas. She died Tuesday, Sept 11, 1984, in Southwestern Hospital, Lawton. She came to Caddo County as a young girl from DeLeon. She married Ernest A. Pelzer on Feb.16, 1919, at Stecker. He preceded her in death on Feb. 10, 1968. She was a member of the Lutheran Church in Apache. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Stephen Washington Edwards and Elizabeth Treadway Edwards, three brothers and three sisters. Survivors include two daughters, Helen Williams and Ila Scoggins, both of Cyril; one sister, May McGuire of Cyril, three grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Burial will be in Celestial Gardens under the direction of Cyril Funeral Home. |

Pelzer, 76, Cyril, will be Thursday, November 9, 2000 in the Assembly of God Church, Cyril, with Rev. Bob Settle, pastor, and Rev. Joe Mayne, of Springfied, MO., officiating. Mr. Pelzer died Sunday, November 5, 2000, in an Anadarko, OK hospital. Burial will be in the Celestial Gardens Cemetery, Cyril, under the direction of Robbins Funeral Home, Fletcher, OK. He was born October 30, 1924 near Verden, OK and attended Elderberry and Verden Schools. Mr. Pelzer was a man of many trades; working horses for Roy Daniels of the Pocasset area, attended a C.C. Camp in northwest, OK. and went to a tech school to learn carpentry. He traveled to California and worked in the ship-yards for a short time before returning to the Verden area to farm. He married Mae Emma Turner, June 7, 1947 in Chickasha, OK. During this time he worked for a short time in Illinois, constructing billboards. He returned to farming and worked as a pumper in the oil fields around Cement, OK. In 1957 he established their home between Cyril and Cement where he has lived since that time. He built trailers for Chickasha Mobile Homes, drove a truck during the construction of the H.E. Bailey Turnpike, built houses for Perdue Manufacturing in Chickasha, was active in sales of various items and produce such as carpet, pipe, custom horse trailers, cyprus knees lamps, bermuda grass, watermelons and sweet potatoes. He had worked for the Sequoya Carpet Mill in Anadarko. Though busy with all this he still worked a few hogs and cattle. Willie very much enjoyed trading of all sorts and was known for his gift of "talk" and "agitating" and a self-proclaimed "Ford Man, All the Way." His past-time was fishing, hunting, shooting pool, playing dominoes and cards, and enjoyed buying "sodies" for his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Mae Emma, of the home; daughter, Linda Sue Mayne and her husband Rev. Joe, of Springfield, MO; 2 sons: Willie Ray Pelzer and his wife, Lovetta, of Cyril, and Don Lyn Pelzer, of Cement; 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Brickey of Deville, LA; 3 brothers: Edward and G.E. both of Bakersfield, CA and Louie of Tulsa, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gustaf John Pelzer and Martha Susie (Capps) Pelzer, a sister, Anna Karnes, and 2 brothers, Albert and Walter. |
14 Jan 2008 Mae Emma [Turner] Pelzer Mae Emma Pelzer, 81, of Springfield died at 8:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 2008, at the Maranatha Village Nursing Home in Springfield after a brief illness. She was born Jan. 10, 1927, in Alex, Okla., the daughter of William B. Turner and Birdie Mae Kelley Turner. She married Willie Adolph Pelzer on June 7, 1947, and was married for 53 years before his passing in 2000. Mae grew up an Oklahoma farm girl. As a young girl, the first love of her life was her oldest brother, Whalen, who was killed in the war. He left her a heritage of playing the guitar. After living on the Pelzer family farm, spending a short time living in Illinois, and a few other moves, she and Willie bought a 13-acre farm between Cement and Cyril, Okla. She worked at the neighboring Red Bud Florist for 35 years. She was a gifted designer and had the reputation of having a"green thumb." She was a member of the Cyril Assembly of God Church. She loved to cook and entertain so her home was sought after by family and friends. Her family was dearly loved by her and she by them. She will be missed because she was truly the best. Surviving are her daughter, Linda Pelzer Mayne, and her son-in-law, the Rev. Joe Mayne, both of Springfield; her two sons, Willie Ray Pelzer and Don Lynn Pelzer, both of Cyril, Okla.; seven grandchildren, Darlene McKellips of New Orleans, La., Steve Pelzer of Cement, Okla., Clint Pelzer of Chickasha, Okla., David Mayne of Springfield, Malinda Mayne Batten and Chad Mayne, both of Bolivar, and Tyler Pelzer of Cyril, Okla.; and 13 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are eight brothers and sisters, Dallas Turner of Cyril, Okla., Wayne Turner, Robert Turner and Floyd Turner, all of Cement, Okla., Gracie Troini of McKinney, Texas, Elzena Bennett of Fletcher, Okla., Russell Turner of Poteau, Okla., and Mary Powers of Apache, Okla.; and a host of other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie; her parents, William B. Turner and Birdie Mae Kelley Turner; a brother, Whalen Turner; and a baby sister, Ramona Jean Turner. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at the First Assembly of God Church in Cyril, Okla. A homegoing celebration will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, in the First Assembly of God Church in Cyril, Okla., with the Rev. Bob Benson and the Rev. John West reading the obituary. Musical instrumentalists will be Paula Ackley, David and Chad Mayne and Russell Batten. Vocalists will be Chad Mayne and Russell and Malinda Batten. Musical selections will be "Amazing Grace My Chains Are Gone," "Wish You Were Here," and "Tears In Heaven." The song leader for the services will be Charles Townley with congregational singing of "When We All Get To Heaven" and "Jesus Hold My Hand." Burial will be in the Celestial Gardens Cemetery at Cyril, Okla., under the direction of the Butler Funeral Home of Bolivar. Casketbearers will be her grandsons, Steven Pelzer, Clint Pelzer, David Mayne, Chad Mayne, Tyler Pelzer and Russell Batten. Honorary casketbearer will be Chad McKellips. |
