© The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma February 22, 2005 Beulah Blanche [Nelson] Ellis July 3, 1910 ~ February 20, 2005 Funeral services for Beulah Blanche Ellis, 94, of Cyril, will be Thursday, February 24, 2005 at 2:00 PM in the Full Gospel Holiness Church, Cyril, with Rev. Donnie Miller, pastor and Bill Patterson of Cyril, officiating. Mrs. Ellis died Sunday, February 20, 2005 at her home following a lengthy illness. Burial will be in the Celestial Gardens Cemetery, Cyril, under direction of Hodge Funeral Home, Fletcher. She was born July 3, 1910 in Whitewright, TX to Robert Lee Nelson and Sarah Elizabeth (Hughes) Nelson. She married James H. Ellis, October 15, 1927 in Coweta, OK. Mr. Ellis died August 1, 1990. She had lived in Texas, Arkansas and Verden, Oklahoma before moving to Cyril in 1941. Mrs. Ellis worked in area cafes as a dishwasher and cook. She had also worked as a provider for ill people in their homes and for over seven years as nurse aide at the Cyril Nursing Home. She was known as 'Grandma' to her own and many others. She loved children and was a member of the Full Gospel Holiness Church, Cyril. Survivors include; three daughters; Pearl Wynn and her husband, Lavern, of Indianhoma, Joyce Gandy of Purcell, and Phyllis Fellows and her husband, Terry, of Cyril. Two sons; Tommy Ellis and his wife, Gladys of Lindsey, and David Ellis and his wife, Carol, of Lawton, two daughters-in-law; Pat Ellis of Cyril and Shirley Ellis of Gahanna, Ohio, a son-in-law, Claude Cogdill of Columbus, Ohio. 25 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and 26 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sons; James, Jr., Jack and Roger Douglas, one daughter, Ima Joann Cogdill, three grandsons, one great granddaughter and one great great grandson, eight brothers and four sisters. Lawton, Oklahoma October 7, 2015 David Paul Ellis July 3, 1941 ~ October 7, 2015 Funeral service for David Ellis, 74, of Lawton, Oklahoma, will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 12, 2015, at the Family Life Church in Cyril with Pastor Donnie Miller officiating. Burial will follow at the Celestial Gardens in Cyril under the direction of the Fletcher Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Friday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. David passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2015, in Lawton. David Paul Ellis was born July 3, 1941 in Verden, Oklahoma to James and Beulah [Nelson] Ellis. He attended Cyril Public Schools and worked at the Cyril Grocery Store as a meat wrapper from the age of 12 until 25. David married Carol Prettyman on December 23, 1961 at the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Cyril. The two were married for 53 years and were blessed with four children. David worked as a meat cutter for McAdoo's Grocery, Anderson's Food Store, Sunshine Grocery, and then finally Herb's Grocery where he medically retired in 1991. He enjoyed playing dominos and spending time with his family. David was a wonderful man and will be dearly missed. He is survived by his wife, Carol, of the home; 2 sons: Gary Ellis and his wife Stacy and Greg Ellis and his wife Dawn, both of Lawton; 1 daughter, Tonya Ellis of Lawton; 1 brother, Tommy Ellis of Cyril; 1 sister, Phyllis Fellows of Cyril; 5 grandchildren: Kody Paul, Ty, Jordin, Tanner, and Owen Ellis; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents: James and Beulah Ellis; 1 son, David Brett Ellis; 3 brothers: James Jr., Jackie, and Roger Douglas Ellis; 3 sisters: Pearl Wynn, Joyce Gandy, and JoAnn Cogill. © Eisenhour Funeral Home Blanchard, Oklahoma March 2023 March 22, 1946 ~ March 14, 2023 It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of our much loved brother and uncle, Jesse Dean Ellis. Dean, as the family called him, was born on March 22, 1946, to Harley and Irene Ellis. He passed from this life on March 14, 2023. Dean graduated from Cyril High School then went on to Southwestern State University in Weatherford where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics. Dean enlisted in the Air Force and served during the Vietnam War. His many travels while in the Air Force took him to places like Vietnam, Guam, Holland, Germany, New Mexico and Mississippi, among other places. While in the Air Force, Dean worked as an Avionics Technician, he worked on radios for the F4 fighter jets. He took that skill on into civilian life and worked at Bolay Communications and Western Farmer’s Electric before he retired. Dean was a born caretaker, a quiet leader. He moved back to Cyril and took care of his mother and father and then his sister, Harla Lane, before his own health declined in 2021. Dean was an avid OU fan. No matter what the sport, if OU was playing, he was watching. He also followed the Dallas Cowboys. Dean is survived by his sister, Shirley Mobly of Moore, Oklahoma; brother, Terry Ellis of Cyril and Charles Ellis (Pama) of McAllen, Texas; and a host of nephews and nieces who adored him. Dean was preceded in death by his mother, Irene Ellis; father, Harley Ellis; and sisters, Verlynn Moore and Harla Lane. Funeral services will be on Monday, March 20, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel, 2500 North Council Avenue, Blanchard, Oklahoma. Interment will be at Celestial Gardens in Cyril, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home, Blanchard Oklahoma.
