The gates were opened; streets of gold polished; the castle lights switched to on; and family and friends gathered anxiously awaiting the arrival of a great daughter of the KING , Mrs. Davelyn Gail Cocheran, the wife of Lonnie Cocheran; mother of Randy Cocheran, Debbie McBride, and Cristy Snider…the horn blew and she soared into the celebration on November 17, 2016 at 11:02 a.m. at the age of 76 years where she rejoiced with those who have gone before her, which included her son, Rodney; her father and mother, Cleo and Hazel Shepard; and her brother Terry Shepard. As the heavens began to rejoice and celebrate her life, so did her family and friends as they gathered into her earthly home to share stories. Davelyn's birth on August 17th,1940 began a journey that would leave a legacy for her 17 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Tears and laughter filled the living area of Lonnie and Davelyn's home as family sorted through pictures and shared stories of her love of life; her love of holidays and dressing up; her love for her family and family gatherings; her love for her church and her excitement every time she saw a new face at the church; her love for ministry as she spent many years teaching Sunday School, children church and her life group, Ageless Encouragers, and Lonnie was quick to remind all who were listening of her support of all he was involved in as she worked numerous gates at the rodeo; worked estate sales, food auctions, horse sales, and was his biggest fan and fashion coordinator as he emceed many Bluegrass Festivals. The grandchildren chimed in with stories of her green pancakes and how much she enjoyed cooking for them and teaching them to be faithful wives and great homemakers. She never experienced loneliness nor boredom as her passion for people was evident as she became involved in cub scouts as a den mother; shared her talent and creativeness through ceramics and sewing. Grandchildren talked of stories that their grandma had told them of how much fun it was to live in the 50's and how much she enjoyed her high school years as a cheerleader. Davelyn graduated from Cement High School in 1957 and later married the love of her life Lonnie in 1959 and from there a story would be written. |
