Bobby Joe Berry

Bobby Joe Berry, 62, Eufaula, died Tuesday, May, 2, 1995. Mr. Berry was born Sept 30, 1932, in Tribbey to Bryan & Mary [Wright] Berry and was reared in Tribbey.

He served in the US Army in the Korean War and served 2 years in Germany. On Aug 4, 1961, he married Cherrl D Gilliam in Cyril.

He lived in Del City befor emoving to Eufaula. He worked at Tinker AFB for 33 years and retired in 1987 as a quality assurance specialist.

He enjoyed working outdoors and fishing at Lake Eufaula with his dog 'Thunder'.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson Jackie; and brother Bill Berry. Survivors are his wife, daughter Sharon and husband Randy, grandsons, Randy Lee Jr and Ryan Frantz, and granddaughter, Lacey; brother & sisters-in-law, Guy & Lavonia and Aline; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Cherrl Dean [Gilliam] Berry

Cherrl Dean Berry of Cyril, OK was born December 13, 1933 in Cyril, OK to Charles Raymond and Dimple Irene (Bennett) Gilliam. She passed away September 28th in her home at the age of 80.

She graduated from high school and married Bobby Joe Berry August 4, 1961 in Cyril. She worked for Tinker Air Base in Civil Service many years. Cherrl was a member of the Red Hats Society in Cyril and the First Baptist Church where she enjoyed helping out as she could. She also liked to go shopping and was an avid reader.

She is survived by: A step-daughter - Sharon Frantz Harrah, OK, Nieces and nephews - Rick Olson Choctaw, OK, Teresa Olson Spring Hill, TN, Scott Grider Tulsa, OK, Tony Grider Jacksonville, FL, Glenda Olson Oklahoma City, OK, Cousins - Cindy Mitchell Cyril, OK, Regina Bennett Oklahoma City, OK, Doug Simmons Willis, TX, Her caretakers and special friends - Cally Farmer and Casey Farmer Cyril, OK.

She was preceded in death by: Her parents, Her husband, 2 sisters - Anna Sue Inman, Janice Kay Ross.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 1st at 2:00 P.M. at the 1st Baptist Church of Cyril with Pastor Charles Echols officiating. Burial will follow in Celestial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Cyril Funeral Home.

Carlton Holmes Berry Sr

He was born in Chase City, VA, March 2, 1937, to Foster Holmes and Margaret Agnes Snipes Berry. He passed away February 16, 2015 in Lawton, OK.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, February 19th at 1:00 P.M. at Celestial Gardens Cemetery with Pastor Kip Ackley officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Cyril Funeral Home. Viewing hours will be Wednesday from 12:00-7:00 P.M. and Thursday from 9:00 A.M.-noon.

He is survived by his wife of the home, his son, Carlton H. Berry Jr. and his wife Robin of Fletcher, OK; a daughter, Karen K. Jordan of Lawton, OK; a step-granddaughter, Hiedi Ripper, her husband Nathan and two great-grandsons, Seth and Levi, of Arlington, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Carlton was a graduate of Chase City High School, Chase City, VA and, while in high school, was selected as State Future Farmer of America [FF]. After graduation, he enlisted in the US Army and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict.

He married Dixie Joy Sain on October 1, 1957, in the parsonage of the First Baptist Church, Cyril, OK.

Using his GI benefits, he earned a bachelor's degree from Cameron University, Lawton, OK. After 31 years of combined military and civilian service, he retired from the Department of the Army as a budget analyst in April of 1992. During this time, he was assigned to the Directorate of Plans, Training and Mobilization, U. S. Army Field Artillery Center, Fort Sill, OK; U. S. Forces Command, Fort McPherson, Atlanta, GA; and the Ballistic Missile Systems Command, Huntsville, AL. Throughout his civil service career, he received numerous letters of commendation, one of which was from Dennis Reimer, former Chief of Staff of the United States Army, and several awards, among which was the Commander's Award. Prior to his retirement, he was inducted into the Honorable Order of Saint Barbara, a military society of the United States Field Artillery which recognizes professionalism, selfless service and sacrifice symbolized by Saint Barbara, Patron Saint of the Field Artillery.

After his retirement, he was an active member of Cyril's Historical Society.

To honor Carlton's wishes, in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Cyril's Historical Society Endowment Fund or donor's favorite charity or church.
