Florence Marie [Baker] Salyer

Funeral Services for Florence M. Salyer, 94, of Chickasha will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, October 24, 2008, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel.

Florence Marie [Baker] Salyer was born March 5, 1914, in Fairview, Oklahoma, the daughter of Pearl Murphy and Pearl [Burlingame] Baker. She died October 16, 2008, in Chickasha.

She grew up in Fairview, Oklahoma and graduated from Fairview High School. She resided in Chickasha for over 60 years and had worked as a bookkeeper for Chickasha Mattress Company, Bills Bakery and the Holiday Inn. She enjoyed gardening and being a homemaker. Florence was a loving mother and grandmother, and she enjoyed spending time with her family. She was one of Jehovah's Witnesses where she was very active for over 30 years. She loved teaching the Bible.

She was preceded in death by both parents; her husband, Clint Salyer; two brothers; and one sister. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law: Larry and Elaine Cunningham, of Edmond, Ron and Brenda Baker, of Ninnekah, and Bill E. and Susan Baker, of Chickasha; two grandchildren: Russell and Stephanie Baker, Michael and Lisa Baker; two great-grandchildren; four nieces: Patty Bramlett, Tammy Dimasi and husband John, Karen Osborn, and Linda Baker.

Interment will be in the Cement Cemetery at 2 pm under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.

Geraldine Marie [Barton] Salyer
June 12, 1925 ~ March 6, 2014


Geraldine Salyer was born June 12, 1925 in Chandler, Oklahoma.

She died Thursday, March 6, 2014 in a Diboll nursing facility at the age of 88.

Mrs. Salyer was a retired Administrative Assistant. Formerly of Stillwater, Oklahoma, she had lived in Angelina County for the past seven years.

She is survived by her son, Ronald L. Salyer of Arlington, Virginia; daughter and son-in-law, Kayla and Steve Richert of Lufkin; grandsons, Robert, Stuart, Stephen, Alex, Todd, and Andrew; and eight great grandchildren.

Mrs. Salyer was preceded in death by her father, D.C. Barton; mother, Beulah Mayfield Willis; husband, Truman L. Salyer; and daughter, Sharon Lee Benson.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Freeman Leon Salyer

Funeral service for Freeman Salyer, 80, of Cyril, Oklahoma, will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 23, 2013, at the Family Life Church in Cyril with Reverend Raymond McPherson and Pastor Donnie Miller and Reverend Sonny Burd officiating. Burial will follow at the Cement Cemetery under the direction of the Fletcher Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Friday from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Salyer went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at his home in Cyril. He was 80 years, 5 months, and 20 days old.

Freeman Leon Salyer was born August 31, 1932, in Cement, Oklahoma to Steven and Lacey [Clift] Salyer.

He grew up in Cement where he attended school.

In 1951, Freeman began serving his country in the United States Army where he fought in the Korean War.

After he was honorably discharged in 1955, Freeman married Nadine Stewart on February 11, 1955. The two were married for 42 years when Nadine passed away in 1997.

He traveled all over Oklahoma and Texas while he worked in the oilfield. Freeman worked as a welder for several horse trailer manufacturers. He worked for Robertson Oilfield Service, Quachita Exploration, and Ward Petroleum until retiring in 2000. Even after retirement, Freeman continued to farm.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, listening to gospel music, and dancing. Of all the things he enjoyed, he loved spending time with his family the most.

Freeman was a member of the Family Life Church since 1974. He was a strong man of God. His faith in God was an inspiration to everyone all the way until the day he was taken home. Even in the midst of his battle, he stood strong never faltering with his walk with the Lord. He touched everyone's life that he came in contact with and was known as "Poppy" to most. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather and will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his son David Salyer and his wife Lori of Cement; 3 daughters: Debra "Debi" McPherson and her husband Raymond of Cement, Teresa Miller and her husband Donnie of Cyril, and Trenda Hendricks of Lookeba-Sickles; 2 brothers: Foy Salyer and his wife Colleen of Cyril and Farrel Salyer and his wife Connie of IL; 2 sisters: Freda Burd and her husband Sonny of Cyril and Florieta Ann Davis of IL; 15 grandchildren: Chancer McPherson and his wife Melinda, Jamie Steffes and her husband Brock, Kris Mitchell and his wife Amy, Jaela Genee and her husband Matt, Jayci Adamson and her husband Joey, Payge Williams, Sean Hughes and Jerica, Trestan Hughes and Shane, Shaydn Hughes, Chris Hendricks, Cody Hendricks, Kyler Hendricks, Colten Salyer, Ryker Salyer, and Lanie Salyer; 13 great grandchildren: Chasen and Caylee McPherson, Cache Steffes, Emma Smith, Jaxon and Austin Mitchell, Dallie, Colt, and Brylie Adamson, Adalyn Hughes, Allyson Holman, and Braxon and Bryar Hughes.

He was preceded in death by his wife Nadine Salyer; parents: Steven Salyer and Lacey and Mosey Brown; 1 brother, Forrest Salyer; and 4 sisters: Fernia Harrel, Fleina Blakley, and Floy and Afton Salyer.
