June 2015 J. V. Robertson Funeral services for J.V. Robertson will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 19, 2015 at the Cyril First Baptist Church in Cyril, OK under the direction of Fletcher Funeral Home. J.V. will be buried with military honors at the Cement Cemetery west of Cement, OK. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Fletcher Funeral Home. J.V. Robertson of Cement, Oklahoma passed from this life into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on June 11, 2015 at the age of 93. J.V. was born to Raymond and Lucile Robertson on May 28, 1922 in Cement, OK. He was one of 12 children - 6 boys; Elmer, Marion, J.V., Harold David, Donald and Junior: and 6 girls: Ruby, Iva, Bessie, Sally, Verna and Betty. J.V. and his brothers and sisters were raised on a small acreage south of Cement. He and 9 of his siblings graduated from Cement High School. In September of 1942 J.V. enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He attended signals school in Champagne, Illinois and was then stationed aboard the USS Asheville, an escort ship protecting convoy ships from New York City to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba during World War II. In 1946 J.V. married Marjorie Wiggins. To this union was born 4 children: Joy LaDon, Jay V., Becky Diane and Bueford Keith. J.V. and Marjorie divorced in 1971. On August 19, 1972, J.V. married Minnie Bea Taylor. They celebrated 40 wonderful years together before Bea’s passing on Dec. 3, 2012. J.V. was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cyril. J.V. held several jobs throughout his life, including working at a dairy and a turkey farm. Those were the 2 jobs he always said he never wanted to do again. He harvested timber in Oregon, worked at (and at one time, owned) a gas station in Cement, and drove the Vo-Tech bus from Cement School to Ft. Cobb. For several years he worked for his brother Donald’s vacuum truck service. He worked at the Maremont Shock Absorber plant then went to work at Harrison Gypsum Co. After retiring from Harrison Gypsum, he kept busy repairing lawn mowers and helping family, friends and neighbors in any way he could. J.V. also served as a law officer for the town of Cement for a while. J.V. was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers and 6 sisters, his beloved wife Bea, a step-daughter, Linda Taylor and a step-granddaughter Deborah Taylor. He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Joy and Glen Kilgour of Oklahoma City, OK; son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Shirley Robertson of Boise, Idaho; daughter and son-in-law, Becky and David Teel of Rocky Ford, OK; and son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Brenda Robertson of Chickasha, OK; a step-daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Paul Stockholm of Lompoc, Calif.; and a step-son, Vernon Taylor of Oklahoma City. J.V. is also survived by 13 grandchildren: Sheila Raney and husband Philip; Raymond Glidewell and wife Lori; Jeff Robertson Brill; Shelly Conley and husband Charles; Tracey Powell and wife Kreta; Shane Teel and wife Lauren; Tonia Smith and husband Daniel; Jason Robertson; Justin Robertson and wife Amber; Nick Robertson; Tricia Taylor; Brian Stokholm and wife Martha; and Kirsten Stokholm. He is also survived by 26 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. J.V.’s family would like to thank the staff at Glenhaven Retirement Village in Chickasha, OK for their loving care of their dad for the last two years. They would also like to thank the staff of Lifeline Hospice in Chickasha for making the transition much easier for J.V. and his family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association. |
August 2011 Jessica Robertson Graveside funeral services will be held for Jessica Robertson, 29, of Wewoka, formerly of Cement, at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 19, 2011, in the Cement Cemetery in Cement, Oklahoma with Kim Hayes officiating. Jessica Robertson was born on June 14, 1982, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, the daughter of Donald Clifford Robertson II and Lydia Welcher Robertson. She died on Monday, August 15, 2011, in Oklahoma City. Jessica grew up in Cement and attended Cement Public Schools. She has been employed in several businesses in the area including working as a waitress at local restaurants and in housekeeping for various motels. Her joy in life was being a homemaker for her four children. She enjoyed shopping in her free time. She was preceded in death by: her father; brother, Don Robertson III; paternal grandparents Don Robertson I and Altha Robertson; and great-grandmother Minnie Benton. Survivors include: mother, Lydia Robertson; three daughters, Ann Robertson, Hanna Robertson, and Ashley Robertson; one son, Jeffery Robertson; two brothers, D.R. Robertson IV, and Clifford Robertson; one sister, Lucy Robertson; grandfather Melvin Welcher; grandmother Patricia Reed; grandmother Marie Story; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Jessica will be missed very much and was loved greatly. Services are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home. |
