Mr. Glass passed away on Friday, August 4, 2017, at his home in Cement, Oklahoma at the age of 62. Jimmy Darrel Glass was born May 4, 1955 in Cement, Oklahoma to Lonnie and Ethel [Simmons] Glass. He graduated from Cement High School in 1973. After high school, Darrel worked on his family’s dairy farm until going to work for Transok Pipeline. He did contract work for Southwestern Powers clearing right of ways and then later the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority mowing the H.E. Bailey Turnpike. Darrel married Donna Harris on June 21, 1975 and the two were blessed with 2 sons. After he stopped doing contract work, Darrel ran Angus cattle on the family farm with his boys. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cement and the Cement Fair Board President for over 20 years and could be seen volunteering around town wherever he was needed. He enjoyed giving carriage rides and attending parades with his team of draft horses. Of all the things he enjoyed doing, being a Grandpa was his favorite. Darrel was a wonderful man and will be missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing him. He is survived by his wife, Donna Glass, of the home; 2 sons: Jason Glass and Travis Glass and his wife Felicia, all of Cement; 6 grandchildren: Dylan Hulcher, Hannah Glass, Lonnie Glass, Hannah Autaubo, Heavyn Autaubo, and Layla Glass; his mother, Ethel Glass, of Cement; and 2 brothers: Wayne Glass and his wife Sharon, of New Castle and Danny Glass and his wife Karen, of Cement. He was preceded in death by his father, Lonnie Glass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Darrel’s name to the Cement Fairgrounds. |
