Clyde Lee Cogburn

Funeral service for Clyde Cogburn, 71, of Cement, Oklahoma, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 20, 2017, at the Cement First Baptist Church with Pastor Troy Taylor, officiating.

Burial will follow at Cement Cemetery under the direction of Fletcher Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Cogburn passed away Saturday, September 16, 2017 in Lawton, Oklahoma at the age of 71.

Clyde was born June 14, 1946 in Chickasha, OK to Lonnie Cogburn and Gertrude Scribner Cogburn.

He grew up in the Chickasha area and spent some time in California working with his family.

On October 30, 1965, he married Sandra "Sandy" Mink of Cement. They were blessed with four children, ten grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Although they lived and worked for a while in Texas, they spent most of their lives in Cement.

Clyde held many jobs in his lifetime. He was an electrician in Texas. He drove a truck hauling hay and grain. He also worked as a truck driver in the oilfield. He built houses for a while and owned a convenience store. He also owned and trained race horses with his brother, James. But the job he loved the most was buying and selling junk. He saw value in things that most people thought was worthless. He always wanted his own yard to buy and sell junk and he was able to do that with his son, Stacy.

Clyde was very proud of his family, and he loved to just sit on the porch and watch the grandkids and great-grandkids play. "Papa Clyde" was very special to them and will truly be missed.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sandy of the home, his daughter Michelle Saucier and husband Carl of Cement, son Stacy Cogburn and wife Penny of Cement, daughter Nichole Warren of Cement, daughter Sarah VanEss and husband Chris of Chickasha; brothers Leon Cogburn and wife Juanita, Houston Cogburn and wife Arda, and Clifton Cogburn, all of Cement; brother Dewayne Cogburn and wife Glenna of Rockwall, TX, and sister Debra White of Cement; granddaughters Elizabeth Haworth and husband Dustin, Elaena Cassmeyer and husband Samuel, Abbie Hedrick and husband Roby, Katie Doughty and husband Brandon, Emily Saucier and fiance Todd Davis, and Zoe VanEss; grandsons Nick and Cooper Warren, and John and Ryker VanEss, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers James and A.J., and a grandson, Jayce Saucier.
